YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Finance & Accounting Team, reporting to our Managing Director/Controller. This role will help oversee accounting operations across our US, UK, and German offices, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate policies. The ideal candidate will be a strong people manager, a strategic thinker, and a hands-on leader with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.

This is a New York based role, requiring proximity to our NY office. We offer a hybrid work setting with team members working in office and from home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help oversee all corporate accounting functions including revenue recognition, expenses, media pending, AP, AR, payroll and financial systems for US, UK & Germany offices.
  • Lead and manage a team of 2 - 4 accounting professionals
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP and management requirements
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis for the management team and department heads
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP. Assist with the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
  • Recommend / help / develop accounting processes, systems and controls to scale with business growth, including documentation of policies and procedures
  • Manage journal entries, and account reconciliations for monthly and annual closing; manage the monthly close and related reporting process
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts; analyze and report cost variances
  • Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Manage/Coordinate annual audits for both the US and UK regions, working closely with the company's outside auditors and other members of the finance team
  • Work on special projects involving financial reporting, accounting systems, data integrity, general ledger and reporting and optimization, and other compliance issues.
  • Assist CFO and Controller in tax related matters – corporate income tax, state taxes, Nexus, and use tax.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including international exposure
  • Big four audit/tax experience a big plus
  • Prior experience managing a team and working in a multi-entity environment
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, familiarity with IFRS standards a plus
  • Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills
  • Advertising / media experience is a plus but not required as our finance team has plenty of experience and we will train

LOCATION

This role requires a candidate with proximity to our NYC office. We offer a hybrid work setting with employees working both onsite and from home

SALARY: $155 -165k. Commensurate with experience.  Compensation is determined on the skills, qualifications, certifications, tenure in the industry and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
