Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree in athletic training, exercise science or closely related field and two years of post- baccalaureate athletic training experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• NATA and NATABOC Athletic Trainer certification required.
• Eligible for Kentucky state licensure.
• First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications.
• Knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations.
• Ability to travel and work hours on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Grade 6 (Salary).

Position Description:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer for the University of Louisville Athletic Department will collaborate with the Associate Athletic Trainer to provide quality healthcare to the student-athletes. They will provide multifaceted healthcare for assigned sport program(s) by performing a full range of clinical athletic training functions, assisting in the daily operations of the athletic training room, assessing athletic injuries, implementing preventive and rehabilitation programs to treat injuries, and advising student-athletes on how to prevent injuries and maintain their physical condition.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide healthcare services to the student-athletes for assigned team, including but not limited to: injury prevention and evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation, practice/event coverage, physician referral, and medical appointments.

  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of the student-athlete’s medical files.

  • Establish and comply with a line of communication to team physicians, coaches, student-athletes, EMTs, and parents (when applicable).

  • Assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment, monitor inventory, and assist with the preparation of budget request.

  • Assist in the supervision and recruitment of undergraduate student athletic trainers.

  • Assist with the coordination of federal work study students in the athletic training room.

  • Remain current with all national and state certifications and licensure and follow the NATA code of ethics, including annual CEU opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Trainer, Director of Sports Medicine, or Senior Director of Sports Medicine.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior Division I intercollegiate athletics experience with assigned sport program/team.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills as well as organizational and administrative skills

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
