What this opportunity involves:

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our team at one of Melbourne’s premier mixed-use precincts. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our finance operations while contributing to the success of this iconic development.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for executing day-to-day financial processes including transaction processing, data entry, and administrative support, while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

This role will be based on-site in Melbourne CBD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders in accounting systems
  • Enter financial data accurately into databases and spreadsheets
  • Assist with lease administration and maintenance of tenancy records
  • Support bank reconciliations and month-end closing procedures
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding account balances and payments
  • Maintain organized filing systems for audit trails and compliance
  • Coordinate with vendors and handle customer service issues related to billing
  • Provide backup coverage and support special projects as needed 

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Tertiary education in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or administrative support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables)
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI or other asset management, or ERP systems will be an added advantage
  • Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service orientation and professional phone etiquette
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial terminology
  • Ability to work efficiently under established procedures while meeting deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain systematic filing and documentation
  • Self-motivated with ability to take initiative and work collaboratively across teams
