About the role

Asset Optimization Manager

We are seeking an Asset Optimisation Manager to lead a high‑performing team of engineers and asset managers focused on maximising the performance of renewable energy assets. This role sits at the centre of system performance, maintenance optimisation, and customer engagement, with real impact on asset outcomes and decarbonisation goals.

You will be responsible for renewable system performance and maintenance reporting, data analytics, and service case management, while providing technical operational support across a diverse asset portfolio. The role also oversees PPA and LGC billing, contributes to the scoping of O&M tenders, and leads customer discussions on system performance, optimisation opportunities, and long‑term value.

Success in this role requires confidence managing large volumes of service cases and complex system data, paired with strong technical capability and emerging people leadership skills. You will translate technical insights into clear, customer‑focused outcomes and proactively identify opportunities for expanded O&M services.

A passion for delivering positive customer experiences and accelerating the transition to a low‑carbon energy future will distinguish you in this role.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead medium‑sized, high‑performing teams while managing complex senior stakeholder relationships, inspiring capability growth, challenging initiatives constructively, and ensuring outcomes deliver maximum value to the business.

  • Deliver revenue, margin, customer satisfaction and employee engagement outcomes by leading and resourcing high‑performing operations teams, developing and executing the O&M strategy, and driving growth.

  • As the operational leader, foster strong safety, governance and compliance standards, empowering subject matter experts, and embedding a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, partners and internal teams, supporting sales efforts and enhancing the customer experience through high‑quality service delivery, asset performance, warranty and cost control.

  • Ensure robust incident management by overseeing the investigation of incidents and near misses, driving timely closure of corrective actions, and partnering with the HSE function to uplift safety outcomes across the team.

What we would like to see you bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Engineering or a related discipline, with seasoned experience in the energy industry and in program delivery or operations management roles.

  • Proven experience managing operational performance through large and complex data sets to inform decision‑making and drive outcomes.

  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management capability, including customer focus, third‑party supplier management and effective negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and maintain a strong health, safety and environment (HSE) culture across teams and operations.

What’s in It for You?

This is an opportunity to step into a senior, hands‑on operations role within the energy sector where you’ll have real ownership and influence over program delivery, operational performance, safety outcomes and budgets. You’ll work with meaningful data to drive smarter decisions, lead and uplift HSE culture, and build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal leaders, all while operating within a clear governance framework that empowers you to make impactful, commercially sound decisions.

Additionally, AGL offers a range of employee benefits that include, Energy discounts, Flexible working, 20 weeks parental leave, Recharge Leave (Bonus 1 week), Private health discounts and more!
