Begin your career journey in Our Chief Operating Office: Join M&G’s Eight-Week Summer Internship

Join us on 22 June 2026 for an eight week internship to gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and build a strong understanding of our Asset Management Chief Operating Office (COO team) within the Financial Services Industry.

Your journey will start with a cohort-wide induction, with focused insight sessions to help you learn more about M&G, network with colleagues, and begin developing your professional skills. You will take part in a structured programme, including:

  • Team Placement: Join one team for eight weeks where you will take on meaningful work, contribute to live projects, and shadow experienced colleagues to gain a solid understanding of the COO function within our Asset Management business.

  • Group Project: An opportunity to collaborate with your peers on a business project, developing teamwork and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional Development: Take part in interactive learning sessions and networking opportunities designed to grow your expertise and build your professional network.

  • Support Network: Regular check-ins with the Early Careers Team, your manager, and a buddy will ensure you have all the support you need during the programme.

This internship is your first step toward a career in our COO team. At the end of the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for our Graduate Programme starting in September 2027.

What will you be doing?

The COO function is central to the success of Asset Management, ensuring our business runs efficiently and effectively. It provides the operational backbone that supports investment activity and delivers exceptional client service, while driving strategic change across the organisation. The COO function spans a diverse range of teams and responsibilities, including:

  • Dealing and Implementation – ensuring accurate and timely trade execution.

  • Operations – managing the full trade lifecycle, client servicing, and operational processes.

  • Supplier Management – overseeing relationships with key third-party providers.

  • Controls and Assurance – safeguarding operational integrity and compliance.

  • Technology and Business Change – delivering innovation and system enhancements.

  • Business Transformation – leading strategic initiatives to shape the future of our business.

An Internship within the COO function will give you a unique insight into the inner workings of a global investment firm and the pivotal role we play in driving innovation, optimising processes, and ensuring we deliver the highest standards for our clients. As an intern, you could be involved in a range of activities such as:

  • Vendor and Supplier Management – supporting the commercial management of external vendors and service providers.

  • Product Development Support – working as part of a team to design solutions for new product challenges.

  • Project Management – providing support to help deliver strategic projects across the organisation.

  • Risk and Control Frameworks – learning how operational controls are designed and implemented, while partnering with the business to ensure risks are effectively managed.​

Minimum Requirements

  • Expected graduation date of Summer 2027 (You will be a penultimate year student, or final year student intending to study a Master’s degree) 

  • Available to start the programme on 22 June 2026.

  • Right to Work in the UK at the time of application - we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for our internship programmes.
