Education:
RN from Diploma Program, Associate Degree, or BSN from an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensures/Certifications:
• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a registered nurse.
• Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course, bi-annually.
• ACLS required
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ critical care experience
Skills:
• Interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills required in order to educate and comfort patients and their families, maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel, and maintain appropriate documentation records.
• Implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention.
• Proven ability to be flexible, adapt to changing conditions and prioritize patient care needs.
• Ability to teach, assist, and role model to peers, including new grads.
• Ability and skill to multitask
• Ability to provide feedback and coaching using humble inquiry
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessment
• Completes admission data bases
• Utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques
• Anticipates need for intervention by other disciplines
• Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems
• Responds to calls from RN’s on units regarding Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS)
Implementation
• Performs clinical nursing skills independently
• Administers medications, IV therapy and treatments appropriately and accurately
• Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary
• Appropriately delegates and coordinates the duties of ancillary personnel
• Communicates the patient's status and plan of care through written documentation in the patient's medical record
• Verbally communicates the patient's status to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
• Communicates in a therapeutic manner with the patient, family and visitors
• Applies teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family
Emergency Response
• Responds to all Rapid Responses and Code Blues – stays with patient and transports patients if needed as directed. Updates Administrative Coordinator with needs as appropriate
• Responds to behavioral health events
• Assists in emergency responses which may include assessments, med administration, documentation (for RRT/Code Blue events only)
• Attends Code/RRT Committee
• Contributes to workflow improvements and assists with data analysis
Patient Care Coordination
• Delegates tasks appropriately to maintain goals to be met within a specific timeframe
• Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines
Teaching and Quality Improvement
• Develops, documents and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record
• Participates in established patient, family, staff and/or student education program
• Identifies unit, staff and patient care problems. Takes immediate action or refers problems to appropriate resources when
indicated
• Performs PI audits as needed and directed
• Provide feedback to appropriate stakeholder with audit information
• Round on New Grads/RN1s on night shift
Ability to provide patient care in a variety of patient care areas
• Positive team member and role model
• Identifies own learning needs and seeks assistance to meet identified needs
• Maintains frequent, open, communication with the Administrative Coordinator to maintain optimal use of time and resources
• Resource RN will not be placed into a patient care assignment under any circumstances
• Assists with opening overflow Critical Care beds as needed

Pay Range
$31.87 - $51.47Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
