The Article Inspection Technician is responsible for performing detailed visual, dimensional, and documentation inspections of incoming, in-process, and outgoing aircraft components to ensure compliance with engineering, customer, and regulatory standards. The technician maintains the integrity of the inspection process, supports audits and process improvements, and contributes to overall product quality and on-time delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Documentation
• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of article units based on CMMs, and work instructions.
• Conduct inspections to identify and report any suspected unapproved parts (SUPs) attached to the unit.
• Review and verify delivery documents, Repair Orders, serviceable tags, and traceability records for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure proper tagging, segregation, and documentation of inspected materials (Accepted, Rejected, Hold, or Rework).
• Maintain accurate inspection logs and records in both manual and electronic systems (Excel, order entry systems, etc.).
• Verify part numbers, serial numbers, and batch information against inspection criteria and order documentation.
• Report any non-conformances and initiate NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) following established quality procedures.
• Ensure calibration status of inspection tools and report any tool discrepancies or overdue calibration.
• Assist in internal audits, 2nd Party and 3rd Party audits by providing accurate inspection records and evidence of compliance.
• Comply with safety and PPE standards, maintaining a clean and organized inspection area.
• Work closely with Operations, Quality Engineering, and Material Planning to address inspection-related issues promptly.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for identified defects.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives CORE to improve quality and inspection efficiency.
• Provide feedback to engineers and leaders regarding recurring defects or opportunities for process enhancement.
• Collaborate with the People Leader to identify training gaps and propose upskilling or cross-training activities.
Physical and Technical Requirements
• Lift and handle components up to 25 kg safely following ergonomic guidelines.
• Perform inspections that may involve standing for long periods and handling small tools or assemblies.
• Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for inspection reporting and data consolidation.
• Familiar with order entry process and system transactions related to inspection status updates.
• Skills and Knowledge:
• Knowledgeable in inspection techniques, measurement tools, and criteria.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for inspection data and reporting.
• Basic understanding of ERP systems (JDE, SAP, or equivalent).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail, discipline, and analytical thinking.
