The Impact:

As an Art Director, you will work closely with the Creative Director, photo and video producers, and cross-functional teams to design and evolve the brand across a wide range of touchpoints, from product branding and campaigns to trade show booths, marketing collateral, and photo/video visual direction. You will play a key role in translating brand strategy into thoughtful, well-crafted design systems and assets.

You will be involved throughout the creative process, from concept development through final production, bringing ideas to life with strong visual thinking and attention to detail. This role requires a highly collaborative designer who is comfortable working across mediums, contributing to creative direction, and executing high-quality design work that ensures the brand shows up consistently and cohesively across physical, digital, and experiential environments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work closely with the Creative Director to develop concepts and translate strategic vision into execution.
  • Translate abstract ideas into compelling visual directions that can be executed across multiple media.
  • Help maintain a high creative bar across the team’s output and ensure visual consistency across digital, product, experiential, and marketing work.
  • Design a wide range of brand assets including signage, marketing collateral, presentations, illustrations, and digital graphics.
  • Art direct studio productions from concept through execution by creating mood boards and translating the creative idea into a visual language on camera.
  • Design and style sets, props, and environments for photo and video shoots that support the narrative and brand aesthetic.
  • Concept and design trade show booths that express the brand and attract attention in busy environments working with fabricators to translate concepts into buildable, high-impact experiences.
  • Consider spatial design, storytelling, product display, and visitor flow.
  • Lead the visual and experiential design for corporate events including product launches, customer events, and internal gatherings.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and industrial design teams to develop cohesive branding around new products.

  • Cross-functional teams (studio, product, events, marketing) feel supported by a creative partner who helps raise the visual quality of their work.
  • Creative concepts are strong, clear, and executable across multiple mediums.
  • The Creative Director has a trusted partner who can help develop ideas and carry creative direction through to execution.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in art direction, brand design, or a related creative role (in-house or agency).
  • Strong graphic design skills, including typography, layout, and visual storytelling.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience across brand systems, campaigns, photography/video direction, and environmental or experiential design.
  • Ability to concept and art direct photo and video shoots.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as marketing, product, UX, and event production.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative ideas clearly to stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable both developing high-level creative concepts and executing detailed design work.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with designing for physical environments such as trade shows, events, retail, or office spaces is a strong plus.
  • Motion design or animation experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing
  • Motion graphics and 3D rendering experience.

Compensation

We are all owners of Formlabs and direct beneficiaries of our success. We believe that equity is a critical component of compensation at Formlabs, and we want our newest team members to understand the potential value of their equity compensation. Full time employees receive equity, in the form of RSUs. Your financial investment will grow with us in accordance to your impact.


At Formlabs, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization.

The annual base pay range for this role is:
$95,000$120,000 USD
