JOB PURPOSE
The Area Maintenance Manager is recognized within Sanofi Aventis as a subject matter expert (SME) for the GEM IA Jurong Manufacturing Facility with respect to all Mechanical Engineering and Maintenance activities. In this role, he/she will lead a team comprising of Maintenance Executive and Technicians with support from contract resources to deliver the day-to-day planning and execution of equipment maintenance tasks, repair of production equipment, troubleshooting and investigation of equipment problems within the Site Technical function
He/she also interacts closely with the Operational Leaders within the Site APU Team at the Jurong Manufacturing Facility to ensure that all Mechanical Maintenance activities are delivered to support reliable and robust production operations.
The Area Maintenance Manager ensures that the Mechanical Team is staffed with the appropriate skills and capabilities to meet all Site Technical functional goals. He/she establishes Mechanical Team Organization, working with Project and Reliability Team focusing on equipment mechanical engineering, maintainability, right first-time delivery and following industry best practices to meet the strategic needs of the Jurong Manufacturing Facility. He / she ensures the availability and correct mechanical function of all production equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner to continuously improve equipment downtime and malfunctions performance and keep it to a minimum.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The job holder will report to the Head of Maintenance & Reliability, alongside with the Electrical & Instrumentation Lead. Reporting to him will be a team comprises of Maintenance Executive and Technicians. In addition, the incumbent is expected to manage a strong relationship with both inter-department and external stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Timely execution of preventive/corrective maintenance
• HSE considerations for maintenance (permits, PTW, LOTO)
• Contractor management (safety, performance, cost)
• Training/coaching of technicians, review WOs for completeness
• Continuous improvement for maintenance operations
The Area Maintenance Manager in collaboration with planning, ensures preventative maintenance tasks delineated in standard operating procedures/ job plan and corrective maintenance are performed on schedule and in accordance with written procedure requirements and current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs) to meet production schedules.
Ensure that all preventive and corrective maintenance, including service report from vendors are documented, reviewed and hardcopies signed off / SAP closure upon job completion.
Oversee the staffing plan based on available resources including supporting contractors.
Responsible for meeting maintenance metrics that includes Technical Downtime, Work Orders completed in time, Late Work Order Portfolio, Un-schedule Work Order ratio and other maintenance metrics.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 8-10 years' hands-on experience leading a team to provide mechanical maintenance services in a cGMP, Petroleum or Chemical manufacturing environment; previous pharmaceutical experience preferred.
Good understanding of Maintenance Management Organization (Value Driven Maintenance) and associated CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) – SAP.
Strong leadership, team building and communication skills.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Experience leading team in a maintenance and/or planning and scheduling functions.
Excellent equipment trouble shooting, problem solving and technical report writing skills.
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships between teams and departments.
Ability to organize, prioritize work in the face of shifting demands and tight deadlines.
Manage team developmental including identifying training needs, provide coaching, mentoring, and encouragement to help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
Proficient in oral and written communication/documentation including reading and writing English.
Proficient in MS Office tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Customer/Stakeholder focused (understand business plans and operating environment)
