Job Title Area Director, Advanced Specialty Care (WAINUA)
Location: Field-Based role (US) - Candidate must live in the US East Region. This position does not support relocation.
Introduction to role
As an Area Director for the WAINUA Advanced Specialty Care Team, this role channels scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives! The Area Director provides inspirational leadership and strategic direction to First Line Sales Leaders who manage teams of Account Sales Representatives and key stakeholders within complex hospital accounts, institutional systems and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) to achieve sales performance and assigned objectives in targeted accounts, including major Academic Centers, Comprehensive and large Community Hospitals.
Accountabilities
Lead strategic account planning and execution for the Area, grounded in a strong understanding of the customer landscape and aligned to brand priorities.
Apply a well-rounded understanding of disease states, treatment pathways and innovative therapies in Advanced Specialty Care settings to influence specialists and multi-disciplinary stakeholders across varied healthcare environments.
Leverage analytical objectivity, complex data and insights to understand prescribing patterns, optimize account strategies and prioritize high-value accounts in highly specialized markets.
Drive consistent high performance across all Districts/Geos, reducing variability in results and ensuring high-quality, differentiating ATTR geo plans with effective cross-functional execution.
Develop deep understanding of the ATTR ecosystem and engage internal and external customers to compete effectively in an evolving market.
Own regional sales forecasts and operational budgets within the therapeutic area, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
Track the ATTR environment beyond direct care delivery (including local advocacy groups, government affairs and area events), translating insights and partnerships into business impact.
Engage senior-level C-suite and D-suite stakeholders in partnership with Regional Customer Directors and District Sales Managers to shape access, adoption and long-term collaboration.
Maintain strong relationships with KOLs across the Area, together with Regional Customer Directors and DSMs, to gain timely insights about AZ products from trusted advisors.
Partner closely with brand teams to provide field insight and input into strategic and tactical plans, ensuring relevance to real-world practice.
Demonstrate resilience and adaptive leadership while driving performance in a complex, ambiguous Advanced Specialty Care market and ensuring effective execution of Brand strategies.
Model and coach AZ’s Leadership capabilities, creating significant impact, a climate of trust and strong influence across specialty care environments and external networks.
Foster a Growth Mindset and continuous learning culture, using new technology and data insights to improve patient care and streamline process efficiency.
Inspire entrepreneurial thinking and transformative patient-centric practices that encourage curiosity, ownership, accountability and engagement through mentoring, coaching and continuous feedforward.
Lead the talent strategy as direct manager and coach of a team of ATTR First Line Sales Managers and Regional Customer Directors within the Area, building succession strength and future leaders.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
8+ yrs of demonstrated Sales or Commercial experience or a combination of: pharmaceutical, healthcare, scientific, clinical, institutional or related industry.
5+ yrs proven field leadership capabilities and/or people management experience
A valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Former Regional field leadership experience with proven sales impact delivered thru a positive culture
Customer facing experience in account management and/or complex reimbursement models
Demonstrated enterprise leadership/key account management across customer facing functional roles
Ability to manage high value scientific thought leader relationships
Clinical Acumen across integrated data sets
Strategic Business Planning

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges $233,464.00 - $350,196.00 USD Annual. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
