General Summary
The Archives Intern will gain valuable experience and training in archival practices, preservation, and film production by working with various members of the archives team to catalog and preserve a variety of production assets (e.g., stop motion puppets, maquettes, props, digital files, optical media, etc.) from LAIKA’s animated films. 

Job Functions 

  • Inventory, catalog, photograph, and organize archival assets created by production.
  • Re-house, label, and prepare assets for long-term storage.
  • Create and update database records to track assets and information.
  • Assist with additional projects supporting the preservation and management of the archival collection.
  • Support archivists by retrieving and transporting assets within the studio.
  • Organize, arrange, and catalog digital assets, including physical media.
  • Create and update project documentation.
  • Fulfill other administrative tasks as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in college/university, graduate student, or graduated within the last 12 months, with an emphasis in archives, library science, museum studies, or related programs.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to handle delicate artifacts.  
  • Experience working with physical and/or digital archival collections a plus.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and initiative.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced creative environment. 
  • Mac proficiency and experience working with databases.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary 
$20.00/hour set rate, non-negotiable
