Architecture Operations Lead

The Architecture Operations Lead establishes and manages the operational framework that enables enterprise architecture to function as a scalable capability across the organization. This role ensures that architecture governance, standards, and practices are consistently applied across product teams, while enabling rapid delivery through the Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDL). The Architecture Operations Lead partners with Enterprise Architects, Product Architects, engineering leaders, and program teams to integrate architecture into planning, delivery, and investment governance. This position is critical for maturing the enterprise architecture capability and ensuring architecture supports both strategic planning and product delivery.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

Architecture Governance & Process

  • Operate and coordinate the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and architecture governance processes

  • Ensure architecture checkpoints are embedded within the Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDL)

  • Maintain architecture decision records and governance documentation

  • Ensure consistent application of architecture standards across programs and products

Architecture Practice Operations

  • Manage the architecture repository and reference architecture library

  • Coordinate architecture artifacts, including capability maps, reference architectures, and technical standards

  • Maintain architecture frameworks aligned with industry practices such as TOGAF, Gartner EA, and BizBOK

  • Track architecture maturity and improvement initiatives

Delivery Integration

  • Ensure architecture engagement occurs early within planning cycles, including PI planning and product planning

  • Coordinate architecture support across product teams and engineering groups

  • Facilitate architecture alignment across cloud, data, security, and enterprise application domains

Architecture Community & Enablement

  • Lead the architecture community of practice

  • Establish training and enablement programs for architects and technical leaders

  • Promote architecture best practices across engineering teams

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and track architecture performance metrics, including architecture adoption and technical debt reduction

  • Support alignment between architecture strategy and technology business management (TBM) practices

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

  • 11+ Years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or engineering leadership

  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 15 years of related experience is required. 

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. 

  • Experience operating architecture governance processes such as Architecture Review Boards

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or equivalent)

  • Experience working within Agile or product operating models

  • Familiarity with modern cloud architectures and platform engineering

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience implementing architecture operating models at scale

  • Familiarity with DevOps/platform engineering environments

  • Experience supporting architecture maturity initiatives in large enterprises

  • Knowledge of TBM, capability modeling, or value stream frameworks

Essential Functions:

  • Perform desk-based computer tasks for extended periods.

  • Engage in repetitive motions, including typing on a keyboard.

  • Occasionally lift and move items up to 20 lbs.

  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.

  • Ability to travel as required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
