Architectural Drafter

Mungo Homes has a new opening for an Architectural Drafter at our Corporate office in Irmo, SC!

This position is responsible for generating and maintaining residential construction documents following company drawing standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (performs other duties as assigned)

  • Produce residential construction drawings (elevations, floor plans, foundation information plans, construction details, and electrical plans) complying with company drafting standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD LT for production of drawings. Requires proficiency using AutoCAD and its commands and the ability to use such things as model space, paper space, layer management, and XREFs.
  • Maintain plan library and update drawings as needed per code changes, design changes, added options, added elevations, etc.  Must follow defined Plan Maintenance/Revision Process.
  • Redline work performed by staff to ensure an accurate set of documents is produced.
  • Ensure the consistency, neatness, and accuracy of plans produced.
  • Work with field construction staff, engineers and building trades (primarily truss manufacturers) as needed.
  • Periodic and as-needed site visits may be encouraged or required.
  • Contact/correspondence with all levels of the organization during the new product release process and/or plan change release process.
  • Create renderings and other materials used by Marketing.
  • May create or maintain various spreadsheets or drawings used/referenced by other departments including but not limited to Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Land Development and Executive Staff.
  • This position may collaborate in the design process and is always encouraged to share ideas.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:  Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of computerized design software
  • Advanced experience with AutoCad (specifically Xrefs, Paper Space, & layer management)
  • Experience with SketchUp is a plus (other BIM programs correlate/translate)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the person needs to regularly move about inside and outside of the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, copier, printer, and constantly operate a computer/laptop.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:  Predominantly works in a typical office environment with moderate noise. Visits to construction sites may be required.
