The Schweitzer Wellbeing Center is seeking a certified aquatic fitness instructor to lead engaging water-based group classes. In this role, you will design and deliver safe, effective, and creative workouts tailored to participants of all fitness levels, while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead fitness classes, including aquatic and/or land-based formats.
2. Design and deliver creative, safe, and effective workouts tailored to a range of fitness levels and abilities.
3. Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate participants with varying needs.
4. While on shift, ensure equipment is in proper working condition and is properly utilized by patrons.
5. Foster a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages member participation and retention.
6. Monitor participant safety and respond to emergencies as needed.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1. Current Group Fitness Instructor or Certified Personal Trainer certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, NETA), or a specialty certification relevant to the class format being taught (e.g., AEA, Zumba , Yoga Alliance, Les Mills).
2. CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to lead classes with enthusiasm, clarity, and professionalism.
5. Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
6. Negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience teaching aquatic and/or land-based group fitness classes.
2. Background working with older adults or special populations.
3. Familiarity with wellness programming and holistic health principles.
Physical Requirements
1. Ability to project voice and provide clear verbal instructions in both indoor and outdoor environments.
2. Must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
3. Comfortable working in and around water; strong swimming skills required for aquatic instruction.

Pay Range Data
New hires generally start at $22.00 per hour.
