Position Details:

The Opportunity:

Decision Aid Systems (DAS) is an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) decision support system for tree fruit and potato growers and pest managers in the Pacific Northwest. It provides easy-to-use pest management models and helps to optimize management decisions for certain insects and diseases.

As an Application Systems Analyst/Developer, you will be part of our development team, working to enhance and optimize our application ecosystem. In this role, you will handle both backend and frontend development. Your responsibilities will include fine-tuning and improving the performance of existing features, creating unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability and high-quality software delivery, implementing new features within the existing application, and providing regular daily and weekly progress updates

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement. 

This is a temporary position expected to be renewed annually. Appointment renewal is dependent continued funding and project needs.


Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 - $7,569.55 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience,  which has included at least two (2) years of web and application developer on a  Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (or Perl/Python) (LAMP stack). Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Extensive experience with Laravel framework (v7+).

  • Extensive experience managing large MySQL databases.

  • Experience with unit/integration testing (e.g. PHPUnit).

  • Experience with JavaScript libraries, like Vue or React.

  • Experience using Git and the Gitflow workflow.

  • Comfortable and efficient working independently, as well as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or comparable professional experience.

  • Experience with cloud application platforms, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Heroku in particular.

  • Experience with languages used in data analytics, like Python or R.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with mid to large-scale project, either in an academic or business context.

  • Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
