Application Support Analyst

The Team: The IT Operations team at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) owns and maintains the production IT systems that underpin S&P DJI's index platforms and applications, ensuring their high availability. We prioritize service excellence, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous improvement while working with global stakeholders across business operations, infrastructure, and development teams to support the robustness of S&P DJI's critical index platforms.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Provide daily Level-2 production support for Index Data Platforms, ensuring high availability and timely resolution of issues to maintain business continuity

  • Monitor and validate daily data load jobs, proactively identifying failures and performance degradation before they impact business operations

  • Support historical data migration activities, including validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution to ensure data integrity across platforms

  • Respond to critical production incidents with immediate workarounds and drive restoration efforts to meet stringent business continuity requirements

  • Partner with business operations teams to deliver technical and data support, investigating data queries and resolving operational issues efficiently

  • Perform comprehensive root-cause analysis, track defects through resolution, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement permanent fixes

  • Lead post-incident reviews and ensure corrective and preventive actions are documented, tracked, and implemented to prevent recurrence

  • Execute disaster recovery processes and coordinate change management activities including approvals and release coordination with global teams

  • Maintain and continuously improve support documentation, runbooks, and procedures while communicating effectively with global customers and stakeholders

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated work experience in production support environments

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Level-2 application and data production support with proven track record of issue resolution

  • Proficiency with database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases, including PL/SQL troubleshooting and stored procedures

  • Experience with enterprise application technologies including Microsoft .NET (C# MVC), Java, RDBMS, and modern web frameworks

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS services including ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, EMR, Lambda, Glue, or equivalent cloud technologies

  • Proficiency with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, or similar monitoring solutions

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline management using tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar automation platforms

  • Familiarity with ITSM processes and tools such as ServiceNow, PagerDuty, or similar incident management platforms for enterprise support workflows

  • Knowledge in Financial Services with experience in Index/Benchmarks, Asset Management, or Portfolio Investment domains

  • Experience working with large datasets across Equity, Commodities, Forex, Futures, and Options asset classes in production environments
