Application Engineering Manager

The Application Engineering Manager is pivotal in leading technical pursuits for inverters and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive business growth. This role requires strong leadership in project execution, customer engagement, and cross-functional coordination.

Job Description

  • Lead technical pursuits for inverter-related business opportunities, including proposal development and customer presentations.

  • Serve as the primary technical interface for Japanese OEMs, responsible for understanding, defining, and documenting customer and system requirements into actionable engineering plans.

  • Negotiate technical requirements and specifications with OEM customers.

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work from initiation of design through production as well as follow up and support

  • Lead responsible for technical project management to ensure programs are flawlessly launched including maintain customer action lists and manage commitments ensuring customer needs are met.

  • Manage the application engineering team to support various customer programs.

  • Coordinate technical reviews and submission of deliverables such as 3D data, customer approval drawings and component drawings in line with key program dates.

  • Responsible for all activities related to development and delivery of prototype products for customers, plant, and internal uses. This may include: testing, analysis of test results, fault analysis, and problem solving.

  • Support global cross functional team by applying knowledge of product development cycle and APQP disciplines to meet all product deadlines.

  • Proactively seeking out new customer opportunities with existing products or new products for continued business growth.

  • Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Greater than 8 years related automotive technical experience in application engineering, preferably in electrification or inverter technologies.

  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and interface with customers.

  • Strong understanding of inverter systems, power electronics, and vehicle electrification.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cultures and functions.

  • Fluent in English; Japanese language skills are a plus.

  • Development and launch experience of integrated electronic and mechanical devices

  • Experience in DFMEA tool.
