Reporting to the Commercial director, the Application Development Manager Support responsible for expanding Hach’s total solution offering, marketing presence, and market share in Japan. This role combines technical expertise, commercial acumen, and cross-organization coordination, enabling effective delivery of comprehensive solutions to the Japan market.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Project Business Support:
Actively engage in detailed product presentations and live demonstrations, representing the full Hach portfolio to customers
Work closely with Hach Japan sales teams to develop integrated solutions tailored to customer needs
Support product selection and solution design to ensure optimal application fit across the full portfolio
Manage project documentation and support commercial negotiations in coordination with Hach Japan
Market Development Initiatives:
Develop and execute market development strategies for municipal (water supply & wastewater) and industrial segments
Build strong networks with EPCs, system integrators, and plant manufacturers to expand market access
Identify new application opportunities and drive adoption of advanced technologies
Strengthen Hach’s presence in Japan by promoting a unified “One Hach” value proposition
Channel & Stakeholder Coordination:
Ensure alignment in customer engagement and sales execution
Coordinate sales transactions and opportunity ownership across both organizations
Product Innovation and Collaboration:
Capture customer feedback and market insights to identify unmet needs and emerging trends
Collaborate with Product Management and global teams to support product development aligned with Japan market requirements
Provide competitive insights, including knowledge of local competitors
Training and Seminar Leadership:
Deliver technical training, seminars, and workshops to customers, channel partners, and internal teams
Promote early adoption of new technologies through education and engagement
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Hydrology, or related field) or Business
5–7 years of experience in water treatment, measurement instrumentation, or related industries
Strong experience in municipal water and wastewater projects
Solid understanding of water supply and sewage treatment plant processes
Proven experience working with system integrators, EPCs, or plant manufacturers
Experience in measurement instruments and analytical solutions
Familiarity with competitors in the Japan market
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across multiple organizations
Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex sales processes involving channel partners
Ability to translate customer needs into technical and commercial solutions
Strategic thinking with strong planning and execution capabilities
Intercultural agility and ability to work in a matrix organization
Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency required
