Marshfield Medical Center – Minocqua is seeking a Urology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Minocqua, Wisconsin. The Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides patient services under the supervision of a licensed physician, according to Nurse Practitioner /Physician Assistant Protocol, and within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant License in the State of Wisconsin. The Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant ensures continuity between clinical practice and standards of care as well as promotes and aids in patient preparation for discharge. This individual works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach to healthcare.

In this role, you will assist with a busy Urology practice alongside two physicians and a Physician Assistant. This position will see patients in clinic as well as assist in the OR. Call will be a part of this role at a rotation of 1:7 and will include all surgery specialties.

Summary

The Urology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for patients with urologic conditions, including urinary tract disorders, kidney stones, prostate issues, and urologic cancers. The NP works collaboratively with urologists and the healthcare team to evaluate, diagnose, manage, and follow up on medical and surgical treatments.

Job Description

Conduct detailed patient histories and physical examinations focused on urologic conditions. Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as urinalysis, ultrasound, CT scans, cystoscopy, and lab work. Manage acute and chronic urologic issues including urinary tract infections, incontinence, prostate enlargement, and kidney stones. Provide preoperative and postoperative care for urologic surgeries. Educate patients on diagnosis, treatment options, medication use, and lifestyle modifications. Perform minor procedures within scope of practice, such as catheterization, bladder scans, and dressing changes. Collaborate with urologists, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists for comprehensive patient care. Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and follow-ups accurately in electronic medical records. Participate in patient education programs and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.

Experience in urology or related clinical setting preferred.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice. State Controlled Substance License (if required by State) National board certification as a Family (NP-C) or (FNP-BC) Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form. Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
