Your Role: Animal Attendant

As an Animal Attendant, you will be part of a multidisciplinary research and development team responsible for the daily care and welfare of companion animals within a controlled facility environment. In this role, you will support Centre operations by delivering high standards of animal husbandry, maintaining clean and safe facilities, and ensuring accurate documentation in line with regulatory and study requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care for companion animals, including feeding, husbandry, enrichment, socialization, and exercise

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal housing, exercise areas, and equipment

  • Assist with preparation of animals and facilities for research studies and treatments as directed

  • Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation in compliance with animal welfare and quality standards

  • Monitor feed and supplies inventory to ensure adequate stock levels

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services (or equivalent)

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of animal care experience, preferably in a kennel, research, or animal welfare facility

  • Top 2 skills: Strong animal husbandry skills and confident animal handling abilities

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training

  • Experience working in a research or regulated environment (e.g., GxP)

  • Familiarity with electronic animal management systems

  • Experience implementing enrichment or behavioural programs

  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
