Position Summary
The Anatomic Pathology Lead Technologist directs the daily operations and provides leadership in the Surgical Pathology Gross Room in conjunction with the lab manager in the Department of Pathology; oversees and leads AP Technologist technical lab work, methods and procedures performed at the bench; provides training for new technical staff and students; evaluates and ensures testing quality is in adherence with various standards; assists the lab manager with quality improvement, safety and compliance programs, and inspection preparedness; investigates and implements changes in technical policies and procedures; works closely with lab manager on administrative activities including human resources, financial and budget planning and preparation; assumes leadership responsibilities to maintain workflow and to meet expected turnaround times; completes patient safety reports and communicates resolutions to appropriate parties; communicates with colleagues, supervisors, physicians, and couriers with cooperation, professionalism, and promptness.
Coverage at OSU East lab will be occasionally necessary; Hours of work are on a weekly rotational schedule (8-hr days) between 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday - Friday, and coverage will be in E417 Doan Hall, UH Tower 5240, James D576, James Outpatient Care, and OSU East AP Lab.
Job Requirements
Associate Degree Medical Lab Technology OR 24 semester hours (36 quarters hours) in a combination of biology, chemistry, and math per CLIA regulations OR equivalent education and experience required. 2 years of relevant experience required. 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
