The opportunity
The Treasury Operations team within Public Investment Operations is responsible for overseeing several banking relationships that encompass complex, global bank account structures that are required to support various public and private investment strategies within the plan. The team actively monitors and reports short- and long-term global cash obligations to the Investment division, and provides governance and oversight of OTPP bank accounts in accordance with our key financial controls.
Who you'll work with
The Analyst, Treasury Operations reports to the Manager, Treasury Operations. This individual will collaborate with Investments, Technology, banks, counterparties, and other operational teams to deliver business‑as‑usual processes and project‑related initiatives that support the Plan’s evolving requirements.
What you'll do
Execute daily work within Public Investment Operations unit:
Support payment processing by reviewing and preparing wire instruction templates on internal systems and banking applications.
Reconcile bank statements against internal applications to ensure accurate record keeping.
Prioritize and complete critical daily activities by co-ordinate individual workload to meet deadlines.
Identify, analyze, and respond to issues and problems as they arise.
Maintain a strong understanding of end‑to‑end operational processes, serving as an “expert user” for internal systems and tools.
Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and build business expertise.
Support production activities by working with technical support teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process and system issues.
Assist the team with complex issues, cross‑training, and knowledge sharing.
Provide coverage for team members during absences.
Verify information and uphold internal controls:
Ensure adherence to operational controls, policies, and procedures.
Verify completeness and accuracy of information.
Check and reconcile information to ensure accuracy and follow-up on discrepancies until resolved.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date procedures and documentation.
Key contributor to projects for the unit under the guidance of the Manager.
Collaborate with Technology, Investments, Risk, and external partners on project tasks.
Execute assigned project activities related to workflow changes, automation enhancements, or new market/product onboarding.
Support testing, validation, and implementation for system upgrades, new releases, and defect fixes.
Contribute to identification and execution of improvements for the unit, including assisting Manager to research, identify and document new markets, products, or processes:
Assist in development, testing, and implementation of enhancements and new processes.
Collaborate on recommendations for process changes and improvements.
Lead or co‑lead components of change initiatives that improve operational efficiency and data quality.
Develop and execute tests plans for changes to systems or processes.
Produce reporting related to cash and banking activities:
Generate and evaluate the output of standard daily reports.
Analyze and asses requests for non-standard reports.
Assist in developing new reporting capabilities for the unit.
Service internal and external stakeholders:
Provide appropriate and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders.
Respond to inquiries and requests from in a timely manner.
Communicate clearly and professionally through phone, internal chat and email correspondence.
Collaborates with Technology, Investments, service providers, consultants and other vendors in the delivery of solutions.
Represent OTPP in a professional manner.
Other:
Maximize the use of technology in all work processes.
Provide constructive ideas relative to Plan's operations.
Maintain knowledge of issues affecting Plan's operations.
Provide input and share responsibility with management as required.
Relevant university degree (such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent relevant experience with Investment Finance processes.
Professional experience in the financial services industry with exposure to Cash Operations.
Strong working knowledge of cash tie-out/reconciliation processes, cash forecasting, wire processing and settlement activities.
Familiarity with SWIFT payment message types.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution.
Excellent quantitative and computer skills, including Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Power BI), an understanding of database concepts and AI-enabled analytics.
Experience working with accounting applications, treasury management systems and banking applications.
Must be able to work to deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels.
Must be extremely detail oriented, organized and thorough.
Self-starter, confident, innovative, team player.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to effectively deal with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Candidate in a professional designation (CFA, CA, CPA or CMA) an asset.
What we’re offering
This position is eligible for base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. Base Salary starting at $81,600 with future opportunity of up to $91,500.Competitive compensation
