[What the role is]
Climate change is a global existential threat, and Singapore is doing its part to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions for a more sustainable future. The power sector contributes about 40% of Singapore's greenhouse gas emissions. We need to significantly reduce the power sector's emissions, while ensuring that the power system remains secure, reliable, and sustainable. The Energy Connections Office (ECO) is tasked to facilitate around 6GW of low-carbon electricity imports into Singapore by 2035, or about one-third of our energy demand then.[What you will be working on]
Your key responsibilities include:
Developing policies to ensure that Singapore's power supply remains reliable and secure with the entry of large-scale low-carbon electricity imports
Establishing and implementing robust governance frameworks for key stakeholders and asset owners, to ensure clear accountabilities and proper oversight
Managing complex cross-agency policy and operational trade-offs for Singapore to successfully bring in large-scale electricity imports
