We are currently seeking an Analyst (Associate) or Senior Analyst (Associate Portfolio Manager) to join the Global Multi-Asset Strategies (GMAS) team in Toronto. This role represents a unique and exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a team that invests across a broad global mix of equities, bonds, credit, and commodities in both the cash and derivative markets. The GMAS team employs a holistic approach to its alpha-generating strategies, applying both quantitative and fundamental techniques.

As we seek to deliver consistent alpha over the long-term, this role will support the portfolio management of our quantitative credit strategy and liquid alternative strategies, which include long/short strategies in global rates, equities, and FX. This role will also assist in the research and development to improve existing strategies as well as seeking new strategies with strong diversifying properties. Additional responsibilities include the build-out of a suite of analytical tools, timely monitoring and cleaning data for execution, detailed analysis for reporting, and supporting the broader GMAS systems. This role has the unique opportunity to gain knowledge into the full cycle of systematic investing including both cross sectional single name and macro type strategies: from data and signal generation to portfolio construction, transactions, and presentation.

To be a successful candidate, you’ll have 1-5 years of relevant experience, be passionate about investing, have an insatiable curiosity to learn, and a strong sense of teamwork. You will apply your strong programming ability, quantitative skills and keen interest in the financial markets to complement the broader team in managing a large, diversified investment portfolio.

Your skills and experiences include:

  • 1-5 years of relevant investment experience in one or more major asset classes with a specific interest in systematic strategy development
  • Strong academic background preferably in computer science, mathematics, finance, or engineering
  • Exceptional programming skills, particularly in object-oriented and database design (C#, Python, SQL) which will include procuring data and overseeing maintenance of the database
  • Providing subject matter expertise related to data automation, analytics and visualization tools
  • Fundamental knowledge of financial markets, CFA designation is an asset
  • Keen sense of detail and highly organized to effectively utilize vast sets of financial data
  • Highly analytical mindset and a curiosity to learn
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to deliver results
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and contribute to a well-functioning team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

 

For the Analyst role, the expected salary range for this position is $115,000-$130,000 per year.

For the Senior Analyst role, the expected salary range for this position is $130,000-$160,000 per year.
