The Analyst-I position is an experienced position on the Pricing team. This role is responsible for applying corporate price strategies and analytics for a specific group of categories in order to optimize Meijer’s price position, sales, margin, and share. The analyst I position will incorporate various data sources and analytical techniques to execute price changes, assess the effectiveness of current price strategies, and drive business results.


 

What You'll be Doing: 

  • Responsible for ensuring that Meijer pricing strategies are executed consistently and in alignment with product and promotional strategies as well as Federal, State and Local regulations for a group of assigned categories.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current pricing and promotional strategies looking at competitors’ pricing strategies, market/customer trends, and company performance.

  • Partner with merchandising leaders to refine category pricing strategies that support individual category targets; model proposed changes to forecast the impact on sales, margin, and customer metrics.

  • Ensure timely & actionable scorecards are published to all relevant internal partners to drive business growth and pricing effectiveness.

  • Effectively communicate pricing and promotional trends and supporting analytics to pricing, merchandising, and marketing leadership.

  • Serve as subject matter expert advising the development and implementation of pricing system enhancements and processes that will govern lifecycle pricing management.

  • Apply category analytical tools that encompass pricing data, consumer trends, customer segmentation, loyalty, and competitor insights.

  • Use fact based analytics and reporting that are necessary to strengthen pricing recommendations that drive bottom line results.

  • Educate and influence business partners to improve understanding and reliance on advanced analytics in making pricing decisions .

  • Develop pricing strategy presentations, category reviews, and communicate them to merchandising leadership.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance or relevant field of study preferred. 

  • 2 years of experience in retail, analysis, and/or pricing preferred. 

  • Proficient in a wide range of analytical, quantitative, and statistical techniques and tools to derive insights from large, complex data environments. 

  • Exceptional ability to extract strategic insights from large data sets. 

  • Advanced Excel skills required. 

  • Analytical and reporting skills preferred (e.g. SQL, PowerBI). 

  • Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal and written. 

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. 

  • Strong work ethic complemented with a positive, can-do attitude. 

  • Office computer skills required; preference for Microsoft application experience. 

  • Ability to learn company systems and tools.
