Job Description

The Analyst – Investment Operations provides support services for Investment Department operations, including coordination and communication with external parties, management of internal and external workflows, and preparation of materials for Investment Committee meetings. This role supports the Portfolio Manager – Operations with measuring and monitoring investment portfolio risk and producing timely financial reporting, including year‑end audit preparations. The Analyst also works closely with the Chief Investment Officer on financial and statistical modeling and manager interactions.

Essential Job Functions

Workflow & Stakeholder Coordination

Coordinate, maintain, and manage weekly workflow reports for internal departmental use and external distribution to the investment consultant. Serve as liaison between the Investment Department, investment consultants, and the Board Office in preparation for Investment Committee meetings and the annual retreat. Measure and report portfolio risk analytics to the Investment Department in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager – Operations.

Statistical & Analytical Support

Provide statistical analytics and support to the Chief Investment Officer for ad hoc projects.

Reporting & Document Management

Review, edit, and finalize six detailed annual Investment Department reports. Maintain the department’s research and due diligence database. On a daily basis, review departmental emails, upload documents, and notify appropriate staff of emails requiring immediate attention.

Third‑Party Data Oversight

Monitor and review third‑party data entry, including cash flows and investment manager reporting.

Monthly Close & Regulatory Reporting

Execute the monthly investment portfolio close, used in the preparation of monthly ALSAC financials. Work closely with the custodian bank to reconcile data and resolve valuation variances. Perform monthly TIC/SLT filings with the Federal Reserve Bank.

Transaction Processing & Cash Management

Perform investment transactions, including purchases and sales of marketable investments, private capital calls (wires out), distributions (wires in), and vendor payments. Maintain and update the cash projection schedule.

Investment Committee Support

Draft Investment Committee meeting minutes for CIO review; following approval, distribute finalized minutes to the Board Office.

Tax Documentation

Compile annual federal and state K‑1 statements and other tax‑related documents provided by investment portfolio managers.

Audit Support

Assist the Portfolio Manager – Operations during the annual audit.

Additional Duties

Perform other job functions and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–5 years of experience within the investment and securities industry
  • Experience with performance monitoring and calculations, project management, performance reporting, and manager due diligence
  • Thorough knowledge of investment operations and transaction processes
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently
  • Understanding of arithmetic, finance, accounting, statistics, and investment performance calculations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in data processing, system software applications, financial databases, Microsoft Office, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Tamale, Zephyr, Private i, and Cobalt
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • CPA, CFA, and/or MBA designation

This position is based at ALSAC’s National Executive Office in Memphis, TN and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
