What You’ll Be Doing
 

As an Analyst in Global Markets Sales, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the distribution of cash, derivative, and mortgage products within the Financial Solutions Group (FSG) for CIBC Capital Markets. You will thrive in a fast-paced trading floor environment, collaborating with a dynamic, results-driven sales team. Your mandate is to deliver exceptional service and support to FSG clients, focusing on activities that drive increased distribution of Products across the network. You will be a trusted partner, providing dedicated, tailored support to each district within your geographic coverage area, and contributing to the success of both your team and our clients.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Client Solutions & Business Development: You will collaborate closely with marketers and traders to develop tailored solutions and ensure timely execution for FSG clients. By initiating and nurturing client relationships through outbound and follow-up calls, generating value-added ideas, and participating in client meetings and presentations, you will deliver customized solutions and trusted advice. Working in partnership with Rates, money market, and other asset class desks, you will seamlessly manage client requests and orders, consistently striving to exceed client expectations and drive business growth.

  • Collaboration & Connectivity: You will partner with trading desks across various jurisdictions to generate ideas that align with risk profiles, communicate client flow and market themes, and deepen your understanding of the risk and economics behind each trade. By liaising with CIBC infrastructure groups - including ISG, credit, treasury, tax, legal, and client onboarding; you will facilitate transactions and ensure the smooth delivery of services. Your collaborative approach will help drive effective solutions and maintain operational excellence across the organization.

  • Product Knowledge & Analytical Insights: You will provide timely and exemplary product information to clients, showcasing your deep expertise in cash, derivative, and mortgage products. By continuously monitoring, tracking, and analyzing market activities and economic factors throughout the day, you will proactively respond to client requests and deliver meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and strengthen client relationships.

  • Continuous Learning & Support: You will take initiative to expand your product knowledge through both directed and self-directed study, remaining open to cross-training opportunities as recommended by management. By sharing newly developed skills, knowledge, and ideas with management and fellow FSG members, you will help foster a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, you will assist with external and internal presentations, as well as booking transactions, to support business development and enhance client engagement.

  • Process Efficiency: You will develop a comprehensive understanding of cash and derivative operations and settlement processes. By working closely with internal and external operations teams, you will help streamline daily operations and enhance overall process efficiency, contributing to the smooth and effective functioning of the business.

Who You Are

  • You have an Undergraduate University degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or Engineering.

  • You bring 1–3 years of sales experience within a capital markets environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of current financial markets and market transactions. Your expertise enables you to navigate complex market dynamics and deliver informed solutions to clients.

  • You are a continuous learner, and able to acquire knowledge very quickly, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the transaction and client relationships. Courses which are an asset include CFA, Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Canadian Practices Handbook (CpH), Canadian Regulatory Industry Exam (CRIE).

  • You put our clients first. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, internal and/or external business partners.

  • You can demonstrate highly developed communication skills, both oral and written, sufficient to convey complex factual and conceptual information on issues requiring detailed explanation and interpretation.

  • You are technically Savvy. You have demonstrated experience in Bloomberg, Excel, VBA, and general coding practices. Your technical acumen enables you to efficiently analyze data, streamline processes, and leverage technology to deliver impactful solutions.

  • You are highly organized and adaptable. You are able to effectively manage multiple projects and respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your ability to maintain focus and deliver results under pressure ensures operational excellence and supports the achievement of team objectives.
