What You'll Be Doing

You will be part of the ETF Trading Services team within CIBC Capital Markets. The role is based in a front office environment, working in close collaboration with traders, quantitative analysts, and developers. The primary focus is on executing daily, weekly, and monthly activities that support the efficient operation of the trading desk. Key responsibilities include developing and delivering reporting tools, preparing regular reports, and compiling trading statistics related to revenue, foreign exchange requirements, spread monitoring, market share, and risk. The role also involves overseeing the ETF creation and redemption process, which encompasses order submission, tracking, managing equity hedge and FX trade timing and volume requirements, performing NAV calculations, and monitoring creation and redemption confirmations. Additionally, the position requires validating pricing, spreads, and hedge methodologies to facilitate electronic market making for ETFs, CDRs, and other related products. Effective collaboration with settlements, risk, middle office, and other teams is essential to ensure timely and accurate responses to queries, supporting complete trade settlement. The role further includes preparing ETF investment penetration reports and identifying opportunities to expand ETF coverage. For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to transition into a trading role in the future upon completion of appropriate training.

Who You Are

An individual who has a passion for financial markets; analytical and curious who enjoys solving complex problems and has a keen attention to detail, seeing things others may not. You will want to apply your knowledge and skills in a fast-paced environment bringing together your passion and experience to support the trading team and engage with other areas of the business to improve processes.  You will want to learn from others, accept suggestions and direction and bring a team focused attitude with a sense of humility and want to contribute at the highest level to the success of the team.

  • You have a strong academic background. You have graduated with a university degree in finance, economics, business, or STEM subject.  You have a high GPA or equivalent.

  • You have relevant industry knowledge. You are highly motivated and have a keen interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.

  • You're digitally savvy. You have proficient technical skills and can demonstrate experience using Excel and Python. It’s an asset if you have experience using SQL and Power BI.

  • You are a strong communicator. Excellent interpersonal and oral communications skills. Proficient in producing high quality, easily readable documentation.

  • You look beyond the moment. As you solve problems and learn new ideas, you take the opportunity to explore innovative ideas and approaches.

  • You keep compliance in focus. As an employee of CIBC, you must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

  • You have completed Canadian Securities Courses. Completion of the CSC, Trader Training Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook Course is mandatory.  It is an asset if you have already completed these courses, but it is not required.
