Position Overview:
Tyson Foods is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Commodity Analyst to join our Commodity Trading team. This role is critical in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on commodity markets and risk management positions to support strategic decision-making across agricultural, livestock, and energy sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of commodity markets, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills to convey complex market information clearly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, price movements, and supply-demand fundamentals in agricultural, livestock, and energy commodity markets.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage in-house fundamental models to forecast market behavior and support trading strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver daily market commentary and reports that summarize market conditions, key drivers, and risk factors.
  • Communicate commodity market updates and risk management insights to internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including trading, procurement, and finance to align market intelligence with business objectives.
  • Support risk management activities by tracking and reporting on risk positions and exposures related to commodity trading.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes, geopolitical events, and macroeconomic factors impacting commodity markets.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of analytical tools and reporting processes to enhance decision-making efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in commodity market analysis, specifically in agricultural, livestock, and energy markets.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, data modeling, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex market data for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing and developing fundamental commodity models is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Travel: 1-2 trips annually
