Job Summary:

The Business Management team sits within MUFG's Global Corporate & Investment Bank's (GCIB) Chief Operating Officer (COO) organization. As an Analyst, you will support the team in the first line of defense, helping ensure that GCIB follows the firm’s compliance, risk management, and operational policies.

In this role, you will help coordinate the implementation of MUFG’s enterprise compliance and risk management framework and support other strategic initiatives across GCIB.

You will play an integral role in ensuring GCIB complies with Bank policies and procedures and will be responsible for following established guidelines and procedures to identify, review, and resolve issues, escalating more complex matters to senior team members as needed.

GCIB covers a broad range of product areas and industry verticals, including:

Asset Based Lending, Capital Markets, Commodity & Structured Trade Finance, Corporate Advisory, Funds Finance, Global Financial Solutions, Project Finance, Securitization, Supply Chain Finance, and Syndications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to major product areas in GCIB in the development of processes, risk identification and risk remediation. 

  • Become familiar with all major risk stripes and MUFG’s governance framework to identify and refine GCIB's compliance with them. 

  • Responsible for keeping the Head of Business Management informed of changes in the risk and control framework of assigned product areas that could impact residual risk. 

  • Enhance Business Management’s reporting framework to efficiently meet the team’s obligations. 

  • Support data or operational process quality initiatives on behalf of GCIB as necessary.

Skills & Experience:

This position requires a general knowledge of and sensitivity to the current regulatory environment; understanding and adherence to the Bank's Risk Vision; and knowledge and application of compliance risk management policies, programs, and techniques

  • BA/BSc degree or equivalent experience in finance, business or another relevant discipline

  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience as a compliance analyst, auditor, risk analyst, regulator, or similar capacity in the trust or financial services industry

  • Ability to use analytical, evaluative and/or critical thinking skills to assess risks and controls in banking compliance and operations processes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to assimilate, evaluate and articulate business impact when compliance exceptions are identified

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with mid and senior-levels of management

  • Ability to prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines

  • Ability to work with a moderate level of guidance

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Compensation & Benefits:

The typical base pay range for this role is between $85k - $100k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
