Job Summary
This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual with Asset & Liability Management (ALM) expertise and a vision for how ALM can drive improved business results. With high visibility across the organization and direct influence on strategic direction, this position is ideal for someone energized by innovation, cross-functional leadership, and the chance to make a lasting impact.
We are seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for designing and implementing ALM framework, processes, and tools that drive financial resilience and product innovation in Retirement Plans (RP) and Individual Annuity (IA), our Asset Management Group (AMG) business. Lead the design and implementation of ALM frameworks, processes, and tools to enhance financial resilience and support product innovation. Serve as a strategic and project leader to expand ALM capabilities and integrate investment strategy, risk, and product dynamics into forward-looking decision-making frameworks.
As a key member of our actuarial leadership team this person will establish an engagement framework and lead cross-functional ALM and institutional investment-only product development collaborations with Investments, Corporate Actuarial, Finance, Institutional Product, RP Actuarial, and IA Actuarial. While the role carries considerable influence, it requires integration with enterprise-level ALM processes and governance and collaboration with the process and governance owners. A successful candidate will work within these structures—modifying or supplementing them as needed—to ensure they effectively support business objectives. This work will directly influence product profitability, capital efficiency, and financial soundness, while supporting senior leadership in navigating complex financial risks.
Occasional travel (such as for planning purposes, team building, or conferences) may be required.
Skills and Background You’ll Need
Able to apply broad and deep business acumen, ALM expertise, and knowledge of ALM industry practices and developments to identify, design, and lead the development and innovation of ALM strategies for the business line.
Strong knowledge of stable value products, annuity products, fixed income assets (e.g., structures, cash flows, yield, duration, convexity, spread dynamics, etc.); basic understanding and knowledge of commercial mortgage loans (e.g., structures, cash flows, prepayment behavior, valuation, and performance under varying interest rates and economic scenarios).
Knowledge of statutory and GAAP asset and derivative accounting and an understanding of capital treatment for different asset types and liabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, actuarial science, or related field required.
8+ years of experience in ALM or investments with demonstrated success leading high-complexity, cross-functional initiatives.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) (or equivalent international actuarial designation). Commensurate experience will also be considered.
