Job Description

Position Summary
We are seeking a Credit Analyst to join our Risk Management department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the credit management function, ensuring the company's credit policies are adhered to, and mitigating credit risk.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform complex credit reviews for rated and non-rated counterparties and recommend credit limits for multiple business units within AltaGas
  • Prepare and distribute credit reports to internal stakeholders
  • Monitor credit exposure against approved limits and proactively work on risk- mitigation options to manage exposures in alignment with credit policy
  • Collaborate with various teams (commercial, operations, finance, treasury and IT teams etc.) to resolve credit issues and disputes
  • Negotiate, execute and administer required financial assurances including letters of credit and parental guarantees
  • Review and negotiate contracts for credit terms within GT&Cs, NASEBs, and ISDAs by working closely with legal, commercial, and contract teams
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reporting to the AltaGas Risk Management Committee
  • Update all credit related data into AltaGas’ system for credit risk management
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices in all credit processes.
  • Continuously improve credit management processes, procedures and systems


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit management, preferably in the energy sector
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and credit risk management
  • Experience with negotiating and executing contracts and financial assurances
  • Proven ability with prioritizing work and implementing processes to streamline and optimize workflows
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Allegro would be an asset.
  • Data analytics skills such as SQL and Power BI are an asset
