Job Summary: Airway Transportation Systems Specialists (ATSS) at this level are recognized as the subject matter expert in their field. All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system. ATSS personnel install, evaluate, maintain, modify and certify facilities, services and equipment that support the National Airspace System (NAS).
Major Duties:
Qualifications: There is no timeframe requirement at the Level IV/FV-I to compete. Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Experience that demonstrates knowledge and experience in one or more of the following systems(s) and service: NAVAIDS: Instrument Landing System (ILS), (Mark 20/20A and Mark 1F includes Capture Effect, Null Reference, Side Band Reference, End Fire, Glide Slope (GS)); Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR) (Second Gen 9996 Conventional/Doppler); Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) (Second Gen 9996, Thales 415, Selex 30600); Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN); Non-Directional Beacon (NDB); Runway Visual Range (RVR). Generally, experience at the next lower level Pay Band H/level III or FG/GS-12 or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.
