What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $80,217 -$109,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver International Airport Monday- Friday, standard business hours. However, flexibility is needed to support operational needs that might include include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking an Airport Security Manager to join our Airport Security team. This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking leader who is committed to continuous improvement and thrives in a dynamic and regulated environment. Airport Security is a section of the Airport Operations Division of Denver International Airport and is comprised of two (2) units: Badging & Background Services and Compliance & Enforcement. This Airport Security Manager position is within the Compliance and Enforcement unit, and will have the opportunity to influence critical security programs while fostering strong partnerships throughout the airport community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Violation Notice Program, ensuring compliance with the Denver International Airport Rules and Regulations, DEN’s Airport Security Program (ASP), TSA Security Directives, National Amendments, and departmental policies
  • Coordinate and facilitate violation hearings, ensuring proper documentation and timely notifications to all parties
  • Serve as a liaison with tenants and internal stakeholders and conduct educational outreach related to security opportunities
  • Audit and evaluate the DEN Airport Security Program to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness
  • Serve as an Alternate Airport Security Coordinator (ASC), including a rotation of 24/7 on-call
  • Assist with conducting audits, inspections, and tests to support compliance with the Airport Security Program
  • Establish and track KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
  • Apply CFR 1542, TSA Security Directives/National Amendments, and the Airport Security Program to support consistent, compliant decision-making
  • Supervise and mentor team member(s), including setting goals, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of growth and accountability
  • Manage ASC communications, compile reports, secure approvals, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including support for VIP visits and special events
  • Cross-train within the Airport Security section, to gain a broader understanding of Airport Security and support team members as needed
  • Collaborate with TSA for ongoing issues, challenges, or projects
  • Conduct any other duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Aviation Management, or a related field
  • At least three years of experience in aviation security, airport operations, or a regulated environment with enforcement action
  • Willingness and ability to learn and apply TSA regulations
  • A track record of innovating programs or projects, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and measurable results
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience developing metrics and reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other technologies and systems
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently to diverse audiences
  • Brings a high level of precision and organization, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all responsibilities.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience administering programs for a commercial airport, airline, or military environment.
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post- high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License/Certification Requirement: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. 
  • Successful completion of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Security training within (6) months of employment.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
