AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (Title 32)

Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (Title 32), Position Description Number D1867000 and is part of the AR ANG 189 OSS FT, National Guard. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQURED- If you are not currently a member of any military service (Brach/Status), please provide a letter stating intent to join.
Major Duties:
- (1) Ensures all aircrew flight equipment meets strict airworthiness criteria and that it will sustain combat operations/readiness by inspecting, testing, calibrating, certifying, diagnostic evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing/replacing, assembling and disassembling all Aircrew Flight Equipment, and aircraft non-ejection systems. Certifies Aircrew Flight Equipment requirements for all missions; and ensures aircraft are properly configured with proper types and numbers of Aircrew Flight Equipment dependent on destination and mission being flown. Certifies by signature forms and equipment records the proper configuration and serviceability of aircraft installed equipment. Conducts FOT&E (Follow on Test and Evaluation) of Aircrew Flight Equipment and to ensure flight safety and optimum performance standards. Makes suggestions and recommendations to change processes and procedures related to technical material governing equipment and practices. Forecasts, requisitions and stores life support equipment and supplies to include multiple munitions types. (a) Aircrew Flight Equipment includes the following items: Specialized Flying Helmets with sophisticated Helmet-Mounted devices such as Night Vision Goggles/Panoramic Night Vision Goggles with additional fiber-optic inverters, photo cathodes, phosphor, micro-channel plates to amplify the electron image; Survival Kit/Vest, electronic signaling devices and life saving survival components to include Personnel Recovery Survival Radios with installed Global Positioning Systems and Programmable Classified/Non-Classified UHF/VHF Frequencies; SARSAT/SATCOM communication transceivers; Personnel Locator Beacons; Global Positioning Systems; Infrared Signaling Devices; Rescue Strobe Lights; Pyrotechnics and various other survival items; Multiple Oxygen Mask Systems with Explosive Passive Anti Drowning Devices installed for incapacitated aircrew/passengers upon water entry; and multiple Life Sustaining Flotation Systems (Life Rafts/Life Preservers) which use self-inflating systems and explosive devices for incapacitated aircrew/passengers upon water entry. Responsible for inspecting, repairing and packing personnel, deceleration, parachutes, life rafts and life vests. (b) Utilizes a variety of complex state of the art diagnostic testers/systems/specialty tools to include: Combined Aircrew System Test Set; Night Vision Goggle Calibration 126 Tester which calibrates diopter settings/columniation/Goggle Gain and Drain; Infinity Focus Infrared 20/20 Tester; Optic Nitrogen Purge Kit Systems; Pressure Breathing Oxygen Flight Ensemble Test Set (TTU-529); Global Positioning Position Systems with Computer Program Interface; Multi-Meters with multiple ohm resistors; Micrometers; Precision Calipers, and Electrical Circuitry Test Consoles to ensure systems are calibrated to Technical Orders (T.O.'s) and factory specifications. (c) Works with numerous specialty tools such as: Sensitive inch ounce/pound Torque Wrenches, Torque/Spanner Wrenches, etc. DUTIES CONTINUED UNDER EDUCATION:
Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: WG - Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential.
