Aircraft Refueling Operator (6 Month Fixed Term)

Aviation Refueller (6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract)

Location: Gatwick Airport, UK

World Fuel is seeking a safety‑focused and customer‑oriented Aviation Refueller to join our Gatwick operations on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely refuelling of aircraft, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate in full compliance with Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) standards, proactively identifying, reporting, and addressing safety‑related issues or incidents.
  • Actively participate in and utilize World Fuel safety systems and tools, including Share It.
  • Comply with and uphold all Company safety, quality, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) requirements for all operational activities.
  • Safely handle, store, transport, and dispense aviation fuel, including into‑plane refuelling, in accordance with Company operating and quality control standards.
  • Accurately record all fuel movements, stock levels, and sales transactions.
  • Operate emergency procedures effectively in the event of incidents or operational disruptions.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers, delivering a consistently high standard of customer service.
  • Schedule and prioritize work activities to ensure aircraft refuelling is completed safely and on time.
  • Support planning and coordination of vehicles and manpower as required.
  • Input all required data into the AVR computer system, including sales transactions, product movement, and end‑of‑day reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate records related to refuelling activities and product quality checks.
  • Complete all mandatory training, including annual 360 and SMITHS training.
  • Undertake additional duties or special responsibilities, where trained and authorized.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • LGV Category C (Class 2) driving licence – required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ current LGV Class 2 driving experience.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated initiative with strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic numeracy, data entry, and IT skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime and shift work.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • Excellent time management and self‑organization skills.
  • Ability to work in compliance with external legislative and regulatory authority requirements.
