Job Summary: This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE) position, is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) and is part of the CA AASF Stockton. Major Duties:
Qualifications: General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-05 (Trainee): Must have at least 6 months experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision; Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-08 (Trainee): Must have at least 12 months experience using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs; Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance; Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems. AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-8852-10: Must have at least 18 months specialized experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; Ability to instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damages engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the WG-10 position indicated above may be considered for WG-05 or WG-08 trainee, if qualified. Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated. If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to WG-08 and WG-10 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.
