Airbus UpNext - Flight Control System Engineer

Job Description:

Airbus Upnext is launching a new cross divisional demonstrator that will deliver strategic outputs to all Airbus divisions. It will help reinforcing knowledge and capacity to propose disruptive and differentiating avionics architecture and advanced awareness sensors to enrich Airbus Helicopters future products. 

Following initial exploration from VERTEX and other UpNext demonstrators, sense & avoidance technologies such as cameras and LiDARs as well as aircraft robust positioning even in case of GPS loss will be further developed up to high level of maturity for helicopter use. Those technologies will be used to increase the crew's awareness of the environment through a novel Human Machine Interface, better adapted to new on-board technologies.

 

Main missions:

As Flight Control System Engineer, you actively contribute to the development of the Avionics and Flight Controls of the demonstrator. You will:

  • Elaborate and validate the algorithms for the generation and the handling of the trajectory,

  • Design and implement the control law for all phases onto the Auto-Pilot code.

  • Contribute actively to the issues of software and hardware integration on the targeted platforms.

You have a strong ability to both conceive and execute : from the documentation of the needs to the low level code of the embedded software.

Your participation to creativity session is key to ensure the sprint set-up and filtering of  orientations as regard as technical feasibility. 

You are accountable for the technobrick(s) maturation up scaling and the formal assessment.

You are passionate and impatient about putting methods and processes in place to achieve your targets. You are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.

You work collaboratively and with humility and are a constant learner about how to improve the performance.

A healthy dose of impatience with processes and bureaucracy, and willingness to move fast and take risks are essential attributes.

 

This job is based in Marignane and it comes with a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date end of June 2028). Starting date ASAP.

The position will require some business travel to Toulouse.

What you bring

  • Engineering degree with an innovation flavor

  • Strong knowledge of control laws, trajectories and flight mechanics,

  • SCADE is a must ! (meaning if by reading this sentence you don’t understand what we are speaking about, this is a no go)

  • Knowledge of simulation environments (including Rise)

  • Embedded software developer mastering : C/C++ programming language

  • Knowledge of avionics and architecture, electronics and protocols, general computing and networks (including linux based systems)

  • Knowledge of AGILE-Scrums methodology would be a plus

  • Flexibility and capability to adapt to changing environments 

  • Ability to self-manage in a non-hierarchical environment, understanding what the organization needs, acting and making decisions accordingly

  • Passion about technology, science

  • Power to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working

  • Hands-on and solution oriented attitude

  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability
