Job Summary: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Performs full range of work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, service and calibration (to proper temperature) of industrial, and domestic refrigerators, air compressors, air conditioning units and systems, ventilating systems, and related equipment.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic duties including: maintaining refrigeration and AC units/systems for leaks, replacing filters, cleaning and condensing and evaporative coils, lubricating electrical and pump motors, checking refrigerant pressures, and cleaning condensation pans; utilizing automated systems to identify problems with refrigeration systems. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Works for extended periods in stained and awkward positions. Works with large and heavy equipment. Frequently carries and sets up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Operates hoists and pulleys; sets up scaffolds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The majority of the work is performed indoors. Is subject to cuts and abrasions from use of tools and equipment. When working outside is exposed, in winter to snow, sub-zero temperatures (-70 F) and severe winds. Is also subjected to the hazard of driving over icy roads to perform work at sites up to 40 miles away from the main post. At times, must work in high places. Work performed in the shop and at job sites is frequently dirty and greasy. Works with cleaning solvents, steam, and air. Performs work on equipment with voltage up to 480 volts.
