Job Summary: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Selective Placement Factor: Incumbent is required to maintain a CFC certification type universal as required by section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990 EPA mandatory technician certification. (Note: You must submit a copy of your CFC Certification with your application package. Failure to do so will result in a rating of ineligible.) Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic tasks. I can repair and recognize the cause of faulty equipment on various industrial and/or special purpose air-conditioning and cooling unit systems. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Mechanic frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Repairs and installations are made from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Work is frequently performed in hard-to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are often for long periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, on top of buildings, in drafty attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overheads. Work areas are frequently dirty and greasy; variable temperatures occur when working in cold storage rooms or climatic test chambers. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, and electrical shock and the possibility of respiratory disorders due to inhalation of refrigerant gases. Protective clothing and facemasks may be occasionally worn when there is a possibility of risk.
