Aladdin is the central nervous system powering the investment decisions of both the firm and its clients; a $1bn technology business that has significant growth aspirations over the next five years.
The Aladdin Platform team is responsible for engineering and operating the core service layer that powers Aladdin. We sit at the center of enabling the delivery of products and features in Aladdin for BlackRock and the largest financial institutions in the world. As the pace of growth of Aladdin accelerates, the Platform Team is laser focused on the speed of product delivery, execution predictability and quality. The Platform team is responsible for a suite of foundational and modern products including our Developer Platform, Core Infrastructure and our Mission Control Platform. The Platform product management office helps to catalyze our engineering community, delivering well-defined Platform products that have clear outcome-oriented roadmaps and efficient and predictable delivery.
We are seeking a passionate, technically fluent Product Manager to lead our internal AI enablement initiatives for software development teams. In this role, you will focus exclusively on developing, maintaining, and evolving AI-driven tools that empower our engineers and technologists throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You’ll define and drive the product strategy for how AI is integrated into developer workflows – from intelligent coding assistants and automated code reviews to AI-enhanced testing and deployment processes. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in developer-centric environments, understands how software is built and delivered, and is excited about leveraging artificial intelligence to transform those processes. You will ensure our development environment remains cutting-edge, efficient, and tailored to the needs of our engineers. Success in this role hinges on your ability to listen to developers’ needs, anticipate how AI can address their pain points, and collaborate effectively to deliver innovative solutions. As a trusted product leader, you will own the AI toolchain roadmap and guide the delivery of features that fundamentally improve developer productivity and software quality.
You Are:
Passionate about AI in developer tools: You have a deep interest in the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve engineering workflows. You stay informed about new AI technologies and are eager to apply them in practical ways to help developers.
Deeply user-focused: You care about the daily life of software developers and have empathy for their challenges. You’re driven to make their jobs easier by providing tools that solve real problems and enhance productivity.
Technically savvy: You have a solid grasp of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control, continuous integration, and deployment practices.
A strategic thinker and executor: You can zoom out to define a compelling vision for AI-enabled developer platforms, and then zoom in to work out the execution details. You blend big-picture perspective with meticulous planning, ensuring that long-term goals inform day-to-day implementation.
A self-starter and problem-solver: You take initiative and handle ambiguity well. When faced with a complex problem you proactively research options, rally the right people, and drive toward a solution.
Collaborative and influential: You excel in cross-functional teams, working closely with engineers, investment researchers, UX designers, and stakeholders. You communicate clearly, build trust easily, and can influence without direct authority. Colleagues see you as an advocate for both the developers’ needs and the business’s goals.
Adaptable and curious: You quickly learn new domains and technologies. You’re not afraid to step outside your comfort zone to make informed product decisions.
Outcome-oriented: You care about results. You define success metrics up front and push for measurable impact. You hold yourself and the team accountable to delivering value, not just features.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Strategy: Define and continually refine the product vision for AI enablement in our developer platform. Develop a clear strategy and multi-phase roadmap for introducing AI-powered solutions that align with both engineering needs and broader business objectives. Ensure this vision stays aligned with the latest advancements in AI/ML and the evolving needs of our internal development community.
Use Case Discovery & Requirements Gathering: Engage with engineers, tech leads, and architect stakeholders to identify high-impact use cases where AI can improve developer productivity.
Product Specifications & Documentation: Translate insights and requirements into clear product artifacts. Continuously update documentation to reflect changes and new learning.
Integrate AI into Developer Workflows: Guide the integration of AI solutions seamlessly into existing developer workflows and tools. Work with pilot users to test new AI features in their daily work and iterate based on feedback.
Platform Reliability & Governance: Oversee the non-functional aspects of delivering AI capabilities on our developer platform. Partner with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure the AI tools and services are scalable, performant, and secure.
User Adoption & Training: Drive high adoption and satisfaction of the AI tools you deliver. Develop onboarding programs or tutorials that help engineers quickly learn how to use new AI features. Be the internal evangelist for these AI tools, highlighting success stories and best practices to encourage wider usage.
Feedback Collection & Iteration: Establish feedback loops with users and stakeholders to gather qualitative feedback and observe how teams interact with the AI tooling. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, releasing enhancements frequently to steadily increase the tools’ value.
Stakeholder Management & Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all things related to AI developer enablement. Regularly update senior leadership and relevant stakeholders on progress, roadblocks, and future plans. Influence and secure buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders by clearly articulating how AI-driven improvements support the company’s engineering excellence and business objectives.
Industry Awareness & Innovation: Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving AI/ML landscape, especially as it pertains to software engineering. Keep an eye on industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices from other companies. Evaluate relevant new technologies or services and make build vs. buy recommendations.
Required Skills & Experience
Product Management Experience: 4+ years of product management experience in a technical software environment, with a total of 6–8 years of professional experience in technology.
AI/ML Familiarity: Strong familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts. You don’t need to be a data scientist, but you should understand key AI/ML fundamentals and trends.
Understanding of Developer Workflows & SDLC: A solid understanding of how software developers work and the tools they use. You should be well-versed in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and common practices like version control (Git), code review processes, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), automated testing, and DevOps culture.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision making. You can dig into usage data or operational metrics to identify trends and root causes.
Communication & Documentation: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You can convey complex ideas and technical concepts in a clear, concise manner, tailoring your message to the audience (engineers, non-technical stakeholders, executives, etc.).
Collaboration & Leadership: Proven ability to lead through influence and work collaboratively. You have experience managing a product backlog and coordinating work across multiple teams or departments.
Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
AI/ML Product Experience: Direct experience bringing an AI or ML-powered product to market (or to internal users) is highly desirable. A demonstrated track record of delivering AI solutions from concept to production with tangible impact will set you apart.
Deep Technical Knowledge: Deeper familiarity with modern AI/ML tools, frameworks, and architectures.
Cloud & Scalable Systems: Experience with cloud platforms and scalable infrastructure for AI. Knowledge of services across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud for building AI-driven applications is a plus.
Developer Platform/Tools Background: Prior experience working on products for developers – such as IDEs, SDKs, CI/CD systems, monitoring tools, or collaboration platforms – is advantageous.
Strategic Vision and Execution: Ability to define long-term product roadmaps that intersect with emerging technology trends.
Advanced Education: A Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field can be a positive differentiator.
This Product Manager – AI Developer Enablement role is pivotal to how our engineering teams will build the next generation of software. You will have the opportunity to shape a platform that leverages AI to make development faster, smarter, and more intuitive. If you are excited about empowering developers with AI-driven tools, love solving complex technical problems, and can balance vision with execution, we’d love to hear from you.
