Job Summary
The AI Solutions Group Owner is a senior enterprise leader accountable for setting the purpose, strategic direction, and outcomes for a portfolio of end‑to‑end AI solutions delivered across Telstra. This role ensures AI solutions are scalable, trusted, and value‑generating, aligning enterprise strategy, customer outcomes, and foundational AI capabilities.This role translates enterprise strategy into outcome‑focused AI solutions that deliver measurable value for customers, employees, and the business. Operating in a complex, federated Data & AI environment, the Group Owner provides strategic clarity, alignment, and direction across mission teams, business partners, and enabling functions.
The role ensures AI investments are prioritised effectively, delivered at scale, and aligned to Telstra’s transformation agenda—accelerating responsible, customer‑centred, and commercially grounded adoption of AI.
What you'll do
Strategic Leadership & Direction
Define the purpose, strategy, and outcomes for the AI Solutions portfolio, aligned to enterprise and Data & AI strategy
Own and deliver a multi‑year TRAM‑aligned roadmap linking AI demand, solutions, and foundational capabilities
Provide enterprise thought leadership on AI opportunities, trends, and capability evolution
End‑to‑End AI Solution Delivery
Lead the delivery and operation of scalable, segment‑agnostic AI solutions across the enterprise
Ensure solutions deliver reuse, longevity, and measurable enterprise value
Make clear decisions on scope, sequencing, and trade‑offs to maintain outcome focus
Technology Ownership – AI Solutions & Foundations
Hold end‑to‑end accountability for AI solutions and platforms across build, run, resilience, and retirement
Ensure compliance with enterprise standards for reliability, security, privacy, resilience, and Responsible AI
Embed mature AI operations (service management, MLOps/LLMOps, lifecycle management, performance metrics) while balancing innovation with operational discipline
Portfolio Governance
Translate strategy into prioritised portfolios, investment choices, and resourcing plans
Steward the portfolio budget, balancing value, risk, and capacity
Govern AI foundations delivered via the joint venture, managing dependencies and enterprise complexity
Stakeholder Partnership & Influence
Build trusted senior partnerships across business units, platforms, and JV partners
Influence executives to align priorities and sustain sponsorship
Represent Telstra across relevant industry and ecosystem engagements
Risk, Impediment & Complexity Management
Proactively manage systemic risks, constraints, and delivery impediments
Remove barriers while maintaining strong governance and assurance
Apply sound judgement to complex, high‑impact enterprise decisions
Culture, Ways of Working & People Leadership
Build a high‑performance, accountable culture focused on outcomes and continuous learning
Champion agile, human‑centred ways of working
Lead through Sub‑Group Owners and Product Owners, partnering with Chapters on future capability and skills
About you
A senior enterprise leader with strong strategic and commercial judgement, able to translate enterprise objectives into high‑value AI portfolios with measurable outcomes
Deep expertise in AI‑enabled products, data platforms, and scalable cloud‑based AI, with a clear understanding of the distinction between solutions and foundational capabilities
A credible executive influencer, skilled at aligning senior stakeholders and framing complex topics into clear, decision‑ready insights
Experienced in leading large, cross‑functional portfolios through ambiguity, balancing pace, assurance, risk, and value
Proven in portfolio, financial, and partner governance, including joint ventures and strategic delivery partners
A values‑led people leader who empowers leaders, builds high‑performance teams, and leads confidently through change and complexity
