Who You Will Be Working With

You’ll work alongside a mix of software engineers, data scientists, and product partners who build and maintain AI-powered tools used by teams across PMG. Day to day, you’ll collaborate with Engineering peers on architecture and quality, with Product on shaping what to build next, and with stakeholders who rely on these systems to make decisions and move work forward.

Because this is a senior lead role, you’ll also spend time coaching and influencing beyond your immediate team—supporting engineering managers, partnering with other senior technical leaders, and helping teams align on clear technical direction when the path is complex or high-stakes. This role is intended for a Lead within AI & Software Engineering.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the development of mid-to-large scale software products, guiding work from early technical direction through delivery and long-term iteration.
  • Design and evolve systems that are scalable, reliable, and maintainable—making thoughtful trade-offs around performance, cost, and operational support.
  • Turn complex problems into clear plans, helping teams move from ambiguity to decisions, and from decisions to shipped, stable software.
  • Set expectations for engineering quality through strong design reviews, code reviews, and practical standards that teams can follow consistently.
  • Use sound judgment to challenge approaches that put reliability, security, or outcomes at risk—and propose better options with clarity and respect.
  • Spot opportunities where a small change creates outsized impact (automation, shared tooling, simpler architecture, better developer workflows) and drive adoption.
  • Partner with engineering managers to strengthen team performance—offering coaching, feedback, and support on execution, collaboration, and technical growth.
  • Stay connected to emerging AI and software practices, bringing ideas back to the team when they can improve quality, speed, or user experience.
  • Use AI and automation where it meaningfully improves the work—speeding up iteration, improving testing and observability, and reducing repetitive effort.
  • Own the outcomes of your initiatives, ensuring the work delivers measurable value for the people and teams who depend on it.

What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of backend development experience, with a strong focus on building scalable, high-performance systems, or a related field, with a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years working with modern backend frameworks such as Django, Flask, Spring Boot, or Express.js.
  • Proven experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on experience working across all stages of software development, including requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring other engineers to achieve technical excellence.
  • Proficiency in backend languages like Python, Node.js, or Go, with a focus on clean and maintainable code.
  • Advanced skills in working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or MySQL, including query optimization and schema design.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies like OpenAI, Bedrock, Vertex, and LangChain to explore and implement innovative backend solutions.
  • Experience with version control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployments.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible to manage infrastructure efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog or ELK Stack for performance optimization and issue resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for creating reliable and impactful backend systems.
  • Interest or familiarity with the digital marketing industry and its backend solutions.
  • Experience working with large language models (LLMs) or AI-driven backend tools.
