- As an AI Risk Expert, you will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the development, deployment, and use of Artificial Intelligence within our Private Bank. This critical role requires a deep understanding of AI technologies, a strong grasp of regulatory landscapes (including banking-specific regulations), and expertise in risk management frameworks to ensure our AI initiatives are compliant, ethical, and trustworthy. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the bank against potential financial, reputational, and operational risks arising from AI, particularly concerning data privacy, model integrity, and responsible AI practices.

Your key responsibilities
- AI Regulatory Compliance & Framework Development: Lead the interpretation and implementation of evolving AI regulations, including the EU AI Act, and other relevant frameworks (e.g., Bafin - regulation on AI) within the bank's AI initiatives.
- Model Risk Management (MRM) for AI: Develop, implement, and oversee robust Model Risk Management frameworks specifically for AI and Machine Learning models, covering their entire lifecycle from design to decommissioning. This includes identifying, measuring, monitoring, and mitigating model risks, such as data drift, concept drift, and performance degradation.
- Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) Integration: Integrate AI-related risks into the bank's broader NFRM Risk Management framework, assessing the impact of AI on operational, reputational, legal, and other non-financial risk categories.
- Data Privacy & Governance (GDPR & Data Residency): Ensure all AI systems and data processing activities comply with stringent data protection regulations like GDPR, and address concerns related to data residency and cross-border data transfers, especially for EU data subjects.
- Responsible AI Implementation: Champion and implement principles of Responsible AI, focusing on fairness, transparency, accountability, and explainability in AI development and deployment. This includes assessing and mitigating algorithmic bias and ensuring human oversight.
- Banking Risks Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of AI applications specifically tailored to the financial services industry, evaluating potential impacts on credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and overall banking risks.
- Risk Reporting & Communication: Develop and present clear, concise reports on AI-related risks, compliance status, and mitigation strategies to senior management, relevant committees, and regulatory bodies.
- Policy & Guideline Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of internal policies, standards, and guidelines for the ethical, secure, and compliant use of AI within the organization.
- Audit & Assurance Support: Support internal and external audits related to AI risk, providing expertise and documentation to demonstrate compliance and effective risk management.
- Emerging AI Risk Monitoring: Continuously monitor the evolving landscape of AI technologies and their associated risks, providing proactive insights and recommendations to adapt the bank's risk management strategies.
Your skills and experience
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline. A specialization in AI/ML or a legal background focusing on technology/data privacy is highly advantageous.
- Professional Experience: Proven experience (8+ years) in risk management, compliance, or a similar role within the financial services industry, with a significant focus on AI/ML.
- Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge and practical experience with key AI and data privacy regulations, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, and specific financial regulations from bodies like Bafin and RBI concerning AI.
- Model Risk Management (MRM): Strong understanding and experience in implementing and managing Model Risk Management frameworks, particularly for advanced analytical models and AI/ML systems.
- Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM): Solid background in NFRM Risk Management principles and practices, with the ability to assess and manage diverse non-financial risks.
- Responsible AI Principles: Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply Responsible AI principles (fairness, transparency, accountability, explainability, human oversight) in practical scenarios.
- Data Residency & Governance: Experience with data governance, data privacy, and managing data residency requirements in complex, multinational environments.
- Banking Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of banking risks (credit, market, operational, liquidity, reputational) and how AI can impact these risk categories.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and critical-thinking abilities to identify complex AI-related risks, assess their potential impact, and formulate effective mitigation strategies.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including AI engineers, data scientists, legal counsel, compliance officers, and business units.
