Who we are:
We’re Qover, a leading insurtech scale-up that has raised $70 million.
With an international team of 140+ colleagues based in Brussels, we help companies orchestrate digital embedded insurance experiences.
Since Qover was founded in 2016, our co-founders had a clear vision of the future of insurance: it must be simple, transparent and accessible across borders – a global safety net 🌍
We’re well on our way to building that safety net, with a platform that protects millions of users across 32 European countries. We work with top brands like Revolut, Mastercard, BMW, Canyon, Monzo and many others.
The context:
Qover is revolutionising the insurance experience, making it simpler, more accessible, and truly customer-centric. We are on a transformative journey, shifting from a traditional project-led approach to a dynamic, product-led strategy. This means we are no longer just delivering features; we are relentlessly focused on understanding and solving our customers' most pressing problems, creating measurable business value, and building exceptional insurance products that drive our mission forward.
About the role
As an AI Product Engineer at Qover, you are the architect of our "intelligent infrastructure." You sit at the vital intersection of Product Discovery and Engineering Execution. Your mission is to move Qover beyond static software into an Agentic Platform, where AI agents autonomously handle complex insurance workflows, from claims triaging to partner-specific compliance.
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, you will be the bridge that turns LLM potential into production-grade reality. You thrive on rapid prototyping, but you understand that in the "Enterprise Beast" era, reliability, explainability, and scalability are non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy: The "AI Opportunity & Alignment"
●AI Strategic Vision: Identify high-impact opportunities where Agentic workflows can solve problems for our customers
●Efficiency Roadmap: Work with the Dev Lead to define how AI can systematically reduce our KTLO (Keep the Lights On) ratio by automating operational and delivery bottlenecks.
●Ethical & Legal Guardrails: Proactively address the risks of hallucinations and data privacy, ensuring our AI strategy aligns with Qover’s privacy policy. Close work with our DPO there.
Product Discovery: The "Prototyping & AI De-risking"
●Rapid Agent Prototyping: Partner with Product Trios (Product Manager, Tech Lead & Product Designer) to build "Functional PoCs" to validate the feasibility and value of AI features before full-scale engineering begins.
●Assumptions Testing (AI Context): Design tests to validate model accuracy, cost-efficiency, and latency. You are responsible for ensuring the "AI Solution" actually solves the "Customer Opportunity."
●Prompt Engineering & Evals: Build and maintain rigorous evaluation frameworks (Evals) to ensure our agents perform consistently across different insurance domains.
Product Delivery: The "Robust AI Integration"
●Agentic Systems Development: Build and deploy production-ready agents that leverage Qover’s platform and Data pipelines to perform real-world actions.
●RAG Infrastructure: Maintain the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, ensuring agents have access to the right "Platform & Insurance Knowledge" at the right time.
●Quality & Resilience: Ensure AI components are not "black boxes." Partner with Engineering to build observability, logging, and "Human-in-the-loop" triggers for every agent deployed.
Collaboration: The "Technical Bridge"
●Engineering Partner: Act as the subject matter expert for the broader engineering team, helping them integrate AI capabilities into their specific squads.
●Product Trio Advisor: Help PMs and Designers understand the "limitations of the possible," ensuring we don't over-promise on AI capabilities while pushing the boundaries of innovation.
●Tooling Optimization: Build internal tools that allow non-technical stakeholders to interact with and provide feedback on AI outputs.
Evangelization: The "AI Mindset Shift"
●Insight Sharer: Regularly showcase "AI wins" and "AI failures" to the PDE team to foster a culture of continuous learning in the LLM space.
●AI Literacy Advocate: Help Qover understand that AI is a Product capability, not just a technical feature.
●Weekly Updates: Provide clarity on agent performance, cost-per-run, and the tangible impact AI is having on our operational speed.
What We’re Looking For
●
3+ years of Software Engineering (Python,
Node.js) with a focus on building scalable backend systems.
●Hands-on experience with LLMs: Proven track record of shipping applications using OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models (Mistral/Llama).
●Agentic Framework Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Google’s frameworks
●Product Sense: You think in terms of Outcomes, not just "Model tokens." You understand the importance of UX in AI (e.g., streaming responses, error states).
●Architecture Mindset: You understand Vector Databases (pgvector, Pinecone) and how to build event-driven AI workflows.
Bonus Points If You Have:
●Experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
●Familiarity with the principles of Marty Cagan's "Inspired" or Teresa Torres's "Continuous Discovery Habits."
●Experience in a company undergoing a significant strategic shift or pivot
