About the role

We are looking for an AI Engineer intern to help build and maintain the integrations that power our AI security platform at Proofpoint. In this role, you will focus on defining, implementing, and supporting AI provider integrations—ensuring secure, reliable, and observable interactions between our product and external AI systems (LLMs, APIs, and emerging AI services).

You will play a key role in enabling visibility, control, and protection across a diverse and rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of a multi-agent AI system for automated discovery and analysis of AI Providers
• Design, implement, and maintain AI provider definitions and integrations within the platform
• Monitor and support existing integrations, troubleshooting issues and improving reliability
• Define and track key metrics for each provider, including latency cost and usage efficiency.
• Build dashboards and instrumentation to monitor provider performance in real time
• Drive data-informed decisions to optimize provider selection and configuration Required Qualifications
• Recent graduate (or final year student) in Data Science 
• Strong interest in AI, LLMs, and autonomous agents
• Proficiency in Python or similar backend languages
• Proactive mindset: you actively explore and experiment with new AI tools and providers
• Strong analytical skills with a metrics-driven approach to system performance Preferred Skills
• Experience with multi-agent systems or orchestration frameworks
• Experience with AI observability, logging, or monitoring systems
• Interest in AI product design or developer tools
• Contributions to side projects, GitHub repos, or research work
