AI Compute System Engineer
Location: Boston, MA 
Team: Frontier AI Initiative 

Role Summary 

We are building a pioneering organization focused on advancing the next generation of Edge AI compute and intelligent sensors. We are seeking an AI Compute System Engineer to play a hands-on role in benchmarking and validating novel analog and in-memory compute primitives for Edge AI. In this role, you will lead the evaluation of new compute approaches in collaboration with startups and internal teams, provide detailed analyses and recommendations, and support the integration of innovative compute IPs into ADI’s future SoCs. You will also define and build test benches, analyze third-party compute IPs, and help develop proof-of-concept systems that combine ADI IP with novel compute technologies.   

Key Responsibilities 

  • Benchmark and validate analog and in-memory compute primitives for Edge AI applications. 
  • Lead the evaluation and validation of new compute approaches in collaboration with startups, internal teams, and technology partners. 
  • Analyze and benchmark third-party analog and in-memory compute IPs to assess suitability for real-world AI inference tasks. 
  • Evaluate performance, power efficiency, and reliability to inform architectural and product decisions. 
  • Collaborate with the SoC System Architect to validate system integration requirements and constraints. 
  • Build and test early-stage proof-of-concept (PoC) systems combining ADI IP with novel compute technologies. 
  • Build testbed setup, driver bring-up, and co-simulation with analog and digital subsystems. 
  • Document findings and recommendations to support go/no-go decisions and guide the technical roadmap. 

  

Ideal Profile 

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • 5-7 years of experience in SoC system engineering, integration and validation, compute benchmarking. 
  • Good understanding of SoC architecture, IP integration, and co-simulation with mixed-signal blocks. 
  • Familiarity with analog compute, in-memory compute, or  
  • Experience with building test benches, performance measurement, and system validation. 
  • Hands-on skills in scripting and modeling (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or SystemC). 
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate performance, power, and reliability metrics. 
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with architects, hardware teams, and external partners. 
  • Clear technical communication and documentation skills. 
  • Big Advantage – Experience in AI\ML development, Neuromorphic architectures.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $125,250 to $187,875.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
