Job Description

General Motors is seeking a forward-thinking AI CGI Specialist to join our Design Visualization Team in Warren, Michigan. This role will play a key part in shaping the future of automotive design by leveraging cutting-edge AI image generation tools to support both Design Studio Visualization and Reveal Asset Visualization efforts.
 

As a member of this innovative team, you will use advanced generative AI technologies to rapidly visualize design concepts, explore aesthetic directions, and help bring future vehicle visions to life with compelling storytelling. You’ll collaborate with designers, modelers, and visualization artists to integrate AI-generated imagery and video into the design development process.
 

Work Arrangement:
Due to the nature of this role, a worker is required to be onsite 5 days per week in Warren, MI. The role is not eligible for hybrid or remote work arrangements.
 

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Generate high-quality, AI-driven conceptual imagery and video to support vehicle design exploration and visual storytelling.
  • Utilize contemporary AI tools and generative platforms to create on-brand, design-accurate visuals.
  • Develop, refine, and AI pipelines to achieve consistent and intentional visual outcomes aligned with design briefs.
  • Collaborate with design teams to respond to visual feedback, ensuring creative alignment and continuity with the vehicle’s design and brand identity.
  • Support Reveal Asset creation  by creating compelling visuals for internal presentations, leadership reviews, and public Marketing & PR debuts.
  • Stay up to date on advancements in AI image generation and proactively evaluate new tools and techniques for integration into the design workflow.
  • Assist in developing internal best practices and documentation for AI-powered visualization pipelines.
     

Yours Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visualization, Computer Graphics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in CGI, digital design, or related visualization field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with generative node-based AI tools.
  • Strong visual and artistic skills, with a keen eye for composition, lighting, color, and form.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced design environment.
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to creative feedback and evolving design direction and requirements.
  • An online portfolio (or a portfolio shared privately) that demonstrates excellence as it relates to the role.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of professional post-internship experience in visual effects or film.
  • An online portfolio (or a portfolio shared privately) that demonstrates traditional CGI / VFX assets in addition to AI pipeline work.
  • Demonstrated experience exploring and adopting cutting‑edge tools and technologies, with a strong self‑starter mindset and high curiosity for learning new software and applying it to creative workflows.
  • Experience directly working with clients in a creative capacity
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in highly ambiguous environments and make progress with limited definition or direction.
  • Experience scripting in Python for workflow efficiencies
  • Experience in automotive, industrial, or product design visualization.
  • Familiarity with traditional CGI tools (e.g., Blender, Unreal Engine, Maya, Nuke or similar).
  • Motion or still image storytelling experience using AI tools or traditional techniques.
  • Portfolio includes photorealistic, production‑quality imagery that is indistinguishable from real‑world photography.
