About the Role

The Director of Training will manage the design, development, delivery and engagement of training programs that ensure employees are equipped with the appropriate skills and knowledge to successfully perform in their roles across our nationwide residential HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical service organization. This role will oversee the curriculum and user experience of our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring consistent, high-quality learning experiences that drive performance, retention, and career growth for employees across all AHHS branch locations.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader who can elevate the organization’s training culture while managing a small and tactical team of trainers and curriculum developers, driving individual competency, knowledge and quality where the work is performed

What You’ll Do:

Training Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive training strategy aligned with organizational goals and growth initiatives.
  • Lead a team of trainers and curriculum developers to deliver high-impact training programs across all operations  and roles.
  • Partner with leadership, HR, and Branch operations to identify skill gaps and create training roadmaps that support career progression and workforce readiness.
  • Track and manage training engagement to understand organizational development effectiveness including learning styles, individual comprehension, and the impact on performance.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Facilitates and executes the design, implementation, and delivery of blended learning programs, including on-demand e-learning, instructor-led virtual sessions, and in-person onsite trainings.
  • Ensure all programs balance technical skill development with customer service, communication, and leadership training.
  • Build and expand a scalable onboarding and development framework for field technicians, sales, and leadership roles.

Learning Management System (LMS) Administration

  • Manage and continuously enhance the company’s LMS platform.
  • Develop and upload new courses, manage user access, and maintain accurate completion data and progress tracking.

Drive LMS utilization and engagement across the organization.

  • Curriculum Development & Quality Control
  • Oversee the creation of instructional materials, documentation, and training content that reflect brand standards, compliance, and trade best practices.
  • Maintain consistent quality, effectiveness, and alignment of all training materials across branches and disciplines.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

  • Measures training effectiveness through set metrics feedback and employee skill progression indicators.
  • Provide regular reports and insights on training outcomes, adoption, and impact on performance and retention.

Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of learning and professional development across all branches.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and innovations in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and adult learning to keep programs current and competitive.

What you need to succeed: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field
  • Advance degree or certification preferred in business administration, HR, organizational development or assessment tools.
  • 5-7 years of real-life experience in training, talent management, and/or curriculum development
  • At least 5 years of management experience. 
  • Experience within the residential home services industry (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical) strongly preferred.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with customers, team, and leadership; keeps others informed and makes appropriate partnerships where necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of LMS platforms and
  • Strong knowledge of e-learning content creation tools (Storyline, Rise, Camtasia)
  • Able to travel to branch locations nationwide. (50%)
  • Ability to display financial acumen and react to trends and seasonal changes.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage time
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and utilize reports
  • Ability to use computer systems to input, access, modify or output information or to execute programs or analyses
  • Ability to train, develop, motivate, and lead in a manner that fosters a work environment that promotes our culture.

This position is remote and requires frequent travel throughout the assigned region.
