Job Description:

Opportunity for an experienced Agile Lead to join an IT Operations Program for a federal government customer. We are seeking an experienced Agile Lead to join a mission-critical IT operations program supporting a federal government customer. In this role, you will support efforts to migrate applications and services to cloud-based platforms, which involves modernizing legacy systems and supporting the deployment of new applications and infrastructure in a cost-efficient, secure, and flexible manner. As an Agile Lead, your expertise will be instrumental in facilitating the successful, iterative delivery of products by fostering high-performing, self-organizing teams. Your role will require working with diverse teams to oversee complex projects that drive impactful mission outcomes for our customers. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in removing impediments, coach teams on Agile principles, align with stakeholders, and ensure continuous improvement in delivery efficiency while focusing on results.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As an Agile Lead, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the CBP mission. Your expertise will contribute to identifying and mitigating threats and other illicit activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive Agile adoption across teams, aligning with program delivery and CBP standards, and lead the transition to the new operational framework.
  • Assess current organizational alignment and Agile practices, plan the transition to the new framework, update tools/processes, and train staff during onboarding.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and refine Agile processes tailored to program needs.
  • Monitor the maturity of Agile teams and implement initiatives to improve Agile adoption and performance.
  • Serve as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach for one or more teams, facilitating Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Proficiency in Agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent platforms.
  • Foster collaboration among team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure value delivery by removing blockers, tracking key metrics, and maintaining transparency.
  • Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to align work with business priorities.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and Agile effectiveness.
  • Communicate progress, performance, and risks to stakeholders and leadership in a transparent manner.
  • Implement tools and techniques to improve workflow visualization and team productivity (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across teams and the program.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in cloud project management or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading Agile transformations in complex environments.
  • Establish transition sprint cadence, backlog, and Definition of Done; coaches teams on ceremonies and drives rapid, iterative delivery of transition tasks.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution skills, and mentorship abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate and resolve team-level and program-level impediments effectively.
  • Understanding software development practices, cloud environment and modeling frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based reporting, AI, and machine learning capabilities.
  • Experience working on government IT programs, particularly within CBP or DHS.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including federal agencies, intelligence entities, or operational units.
  • Must be a US citizen able to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance and successfully pass CBP Background Investigation (BI) and attain EOD to start work. Top Secret clearance preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business administration or a related field.
  • Certified Agile Leader, SAFe Agilist or Agile Product Management certification preferred.
  • Previous CBP OIT support experience and mission/ environment understanding is highly desired (preference to people with active CBP BI and a CBP badge).
  • Demonstrated servant leadership and influence without authority.

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
